I had never seen this variant
with vertical day & month. Thanks for the discovery. Legibility of the date numerals is enhanced indeed. But I personally miss the double coin-edged bezel and, for whatever reason, I think the variant which appeals to me the most remains the one I chose for this post (with date numerals spreading from 8 to 4 o’clock and day & month apertures placed towards the center of the dial). Very subjective of course. Anyway, these early Torics are truly special.

I must admit I don't really know a lot about this brand but from what I have seen they seem to make very nice watches with great finishing and movements. most of the ones I have seen are quite unique but with this one if you put a Breguet label on the dia...
Michel Parmigiani is a major watchmaker

In some variants, day & months have been placed
together with a smaller date arch going from 9 to 3 o'clock. Here are two platinum examples (but I personally prefer the wider date arch, going from 8 to 4 o'clock): credit: phillips (1) & Sotheby's (2) ...
I prefer this second version with the day and month apertures positioned at the perimeter of the dial.
The other version I prefer positions the day and month apertures in a vertical orientation. I also like the legibility of the date numerals on this version which are pushed out further to the perimeter of the dial. Photo from Class Watches Thanks for brin...

In French, to remain patient, we often quote La Fontaine, a 17th century writer: “By time and toil we sever What strength and rage could never.” (Patience et longueur de temps font mieux que force ni que rage).
It definitely looks ‘cleaner’.
But for whatever reason the other layout appeals to me more…
