F.P. Journe Resonnance - the 2019 edition
this is the final edition of the Resonance, only produced this year.
How do you like it? compared to the older versions?
I like it more and more. I really like that the subdials are printed in blue and I like the simpler design of of the new dials. In fact Im thinking Im beginning to prefer the simpler graphics. This version is obviously meant to be used for two timezones with the 24h dial on the left. However, I much prefer the hands to be in symmetry. Even when I travel with my Resonance I keep both the dials set to local time. Its just how I prefer it. That is purely a personal preference though. I can see how it can make a useful tool for people who travel a lot.
Still haven’t gotten over the fact that one is 12 and the other is 24... not very sync... [nt]

i also prefer the first as its the resoanace phenomenon that interets me about it.
I think this one is a more realistic take on the watch as a "travel watch watch" than the Parking Meter dial, however.

Right ;-) I guess the master changed his view on that with this one.
I can actually understand why he said that when the Resonance came out. The context was that many where sceptical if it worked and no one had seen a Resonance wrist watch before. It would have been too easy to neglect it as just a watch with two time zones. My guess is that this is why he was so insisting on this point.

However Im beginning to see it as a way to utilize the watch as more of a useful "instrument" rather than the expression of the Resonance phenomenon.

well, he will do some special requests of course
but I was told 38mm - no more. I guess he is quite persistent 
gr8 pic Christian...personally i like the earlier dial version - i feel more consistency between the two dials - the mirror effect (similar to the movement side)
probably we would have liked this version more if it was the predecessor !
I'm more anticipating the 2020 Resonance more in the dial layout + seconds in disc similar to the 'only watch'

Christian, I love it because...
Firstly, the colours are beautifully chosen and would look great with a white shirt and secondly, having both a 24hour dial and a traditional dial would be very useful for traveling.
As for the symmetry, you only see half the dial with a long sleeve shirt and/or a jacket. Perfect 👌
True, If I was travelling as much as one of my close friends, this could be a very useful "instrument"
The peaking dial is a very cool feature of this watch. when Im in meetings I often use this discrete way of telling time. Hover there is something to the two symmetric dials that I just love so much. They seem to raise the question; "why the hell have two watches showing the exact same time?". I just absolutely love that about the piece. Like any good piece of art, it both fascinates and raises a question. (that is just the way it makes me feel) I just dont enjoy it as much when I have them set to different times.

Mine too. that just works so well. its the same for the Minute repeater vs. Chronometre Souverain. when you see them side by side, those blue numbers...;-)
Completing a set
This would be a piece to add if I were completing a resonance set - ie. V1, V2 (parking meter) and V3 shown here. For someone acquiring 'only' one resonance for their collection, the original 38mm is the one to go with in my opinion.
This one is quite nice regardless, and a worthy sendoff of an iconic piece.

it is somehow not as "iconic" or true to the concept as the orignal. I also think it is meant as such. Lets say around 50 will be produced in the end. Thats more directed at collectors than a piece which is an updated part of a collection.

I do however see this model being a highly desirable version in the future due to its unique layout and very limited nature with a one year model run (that sold out very quickly). It's by far the best "travel" version, so will be the one to wear when traveling.

I've been a long time reader and love the fact the FP Journe forum is back. I'll try and post a photo or two of some of my special pieces. As for this Resonance, I'm one of those collectors who wanted to complete the set... well, until next year's version of course
