Rolex

Hope all is well friends! In the past I owned the 39 mm version of this watch but found it wore too large for my wrist, especially the lug to lug. Today I saw the 36 mm Explorer I 124270 in the metal for the first time. Initial impressions are strong. My biggest concern is case thickness at 11.5 mm on a 36 mm watch. Based on my pics, do you guys think it wears too tall? Also, if there are any members who are owners, I’d love to hear what you like and what you dislike (if anything). Thanks for sharing your opinions! 🍻

But probably not 😂 Wearability of a watch is a top priority and I have a very hard time with watches that are unnecessarily thick. This one is borderline. So I’m on the fence! Thanks so much for weighing in!

It still looks as good as the day you bought it. And clearly, due to its tenure in your rotation, it must still feel that way too

But here's my question for you Jesse: what does it give you that you don't already have with the Laureato?

As I am contemplating that same question! Initially, I thought, not much, except it says Rolex on the dial and the dial is black instead of blue (with no date 😉). But a deeper examination reveals that there may be a Sports Rolex hole in my line-up now that the Sub is sold. No I don’t want another Sub. But an iconic black dialed Rolex sports watch, with a beautiful, classic, comfortable and solid bracelet - That fits me much better than the Sub - And that is the reason for my consideration 🙂 Very smart question! 👍🏻👏🏻

but I think you may have to get yourself one of these. It is good in itself, and good for you, in exactly the ways you're saying here. (and I like it better than the Sub!)

Of course I am biased and absolutely adore my 114270.  Size is perfect, discreet, comfortable, rather cool, and thickness I think suits it proportionately well.  Just a nice little package wrapped around one's wrist!

A lightly pre-loved version, relatively new,  in top condition with a full set of course! 🙂 Just my personal preference 👍🏻

Sure it could be a bit thinner (my u50 which has a 500m WR is only 11.2) but the case profile is smooth and unlikely to get in the way. I yet have to see it in the metal, what were your thoughts on the clasp length and width?

I put the end of the Laureato 38 mm bracelet up to the end of the EX I bracelet , and without calipers or a precise way to measure, to my eyes, they were almost identical in width. The clasp, just like the bracelet is top notch. And the clasp of course is a bit wider than the end of the bracelet , so it’s actually a very balanced look to my eyes. Overall the clasp length and width were very proportionate to me. I could be mistaken , but I believe the bracelet taper is 19 to 14 mm which especially with the wider clasp looks and feels perfect to me
