That's the weak part of the watch, I mean the buckle. Don't worry that much, you will polish the buckle when you service it.
The first scratch is the deepest!
But it's something you can't avoid all the time... so don't worry too much!
Unfortunately you will always know it there even when you’re not looking at it, until you get it fixed.

Wait until you see my aluminum Rimowa suitcase, a high end hotel dropped my almost pristine suitcase on their driveway! That suitcase was in near perfect condition after several years of usage.
None of my aluminum Rimowas lasted their virginity after their first journey.
BA sees to that very nicely... I am almost certain the baggage handlers get a kick out of battering them.
Indeed. But I treat my carry on like a car. It's not supposed to get dented! Just like a car shouldn't get dents nor scratches!

British Airways is indeed terrible in many regards! I can agree with you there! My carry on was in very good condition, until it suffered the drop at a very high end hotel chain. It had flown hundreds of thousands of miles in a few short years, but ironically a local hotel in the same province I live in managed to screw it up.
First one is always the most painful
A year from now it won't matter, just wear it, love it, enjoy it.
1st one always hurts but it gets better with time and then they become part of your journey through life 😁😉

Normally i view the case to hold it scratch free.
A buckle is new to me. It sits under the wrist, so not in the spot light.
But i can not accept bad sized pushpins, and pushpin noise of cheap pushpins.
Genuine pushpins fits stiff. Omega for example.

Just tell yourself from now on, you no longer need to babysit it while you are wearing it.
Enjoy the watch. Decades later, this is one of the characteristic of a vintage.
