Well I already dedicated a week to vintage Rolex when I posted several of my pieces but it seemed a bit too much and an overdose which was not really appreciated 🤷♂️🤦♂️...
And another reason why I don't really like to post them anywhere. People are on both sides of the fence when it comes to vintage Daytonas, me included.
I was into them many years ago and luckily had a chance to see literally hundreds of them pass through my hands. Back then, they were nowhere near as much as they are today. The explosive nature of the vintage market has left many people with polarizing views, again me included.
The problem is that now, even simple 6239, 6241, 6263, 6265 models are multiples of what they should be and multiples of current Daytonas. Hard to justify that to most collectors 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Just an example is a recent auction for a 6264 JPS that sold for 1.5 million. Just insane prices 🤣😂🤦♂️🤦♂️

Forgot to say a couple things...
obviously Rolex made several dials variants and colors. When it comes to Big Red dials, I prefer them black.
For panda dials I prefer it without the Daytona designation as it cleans up the dial a bit.

A Daytona dial without DAYTONA printed on it is all wrong to me. It looks incomplete and unfinished like something is missing.
I am pleased you like them though and feel they look clean.

Well, I am sure you know the story of the Daytona and Cosmograph Miles...
there is a reason why Rolex chose the terms "Cosmograph" st the beginning of this reference and later switched it to the Daytona designation 😉🤣😂
In addition, I find it funny that they would include the Daytona designation on the SS 6263 and 6265 but not on the equivalent models in gold 🤔🤷♂️. No idea why so maybe someone could enlighten me 🤷♂️
Have a look at my two golf 6263s (1 standard dial and the other is a Sigma dial).
Notice the 4 lines of text and then the Cosmograph designation where the Daytona designation would be 🤔

I understand your view with the Daytona designation Miles but I also find it funny how the SS 6263/6265 have the Daytona designation while the gold models have "Cosmograph"...
I am pretty sure you know the story of how and why Rolex originally called this the Cosmograph and then changed it to the Daytona but it always fascinated me when people fail to remember this part of it's history 😁😉
I have two 6263s in gold (1 standard and 1 Sigma dial) and both have 4 lines of text along with the Cosmograph designation above the 6 o'clock counter instead of Daytona like the SS models. Again, too much text which clutters the dial IMHO but they obviously had their reasons 🤷♂️
