What's the physical limit in your mind and wrist which you feel is the maximum case size? Is 47mm the largest? Or can you go even larger?

Because I'm a small boy
just 188 cm short, 110 kg and my chicken wrist is 8 inches. Thus 37 - 40 mm is the right size for me. I had my PP 5140P on my wrist during the whole holiday period and now when I'm wearing 5170G that is 39 mm, it feels big.
I do not really believe that a man looks more masculine if wearing a huge watch.

First, my wrist is too small. And i don't see the point of going larger than the historical size (47mm).
Panerai should work on a totally new case instead of doing variations of existing ones.
Please Panerai, show us you are a "workshop of ideas" !

It very much depends on the case's shape and thickness...
Balance is everything, in fashion accessories. I don't believe that an extra 3mm on a Radiomir case, would make a world of difference but it would depend on the...proportions of the various element of the case, be it the lugs or the thickness or the weight. A Luminor case, on the other hand, could prove to be too much of a...stretch IMO

Bigger for bigger's sake!
Making bigger watches for bigger's sake is ridiculous unless they need to fit more complications in. I think 45-47mm is perfect for a 7.5" wrist (it is not about looking more masculine !). Sub 40mm watches on larger wrists tend to make people look even larger in my opinion. But I realize I am in a minority amongst this community. So to answer your question, unless the new 50mm case housed a movement that justified the larger case, then probably no. And I really do not like UBoat watches !

The only 47mm luminor I would wear would be a 203 or 217... of course I am not fortunate to own either 
I have a 7 inch …wrist that is…-and a 47 is just wearable …but
A 50mm would look amazing if I was high on crack………

I don't think so
first of all i have a 6.5' wrist and 47mm is about the limit in my point of view depending a bit on the case style and thickness of the watch, I occasionaly wear a 57.5mm Zenith Aeronef , but only when i visit my grandma because her visibility ain't that good any more
no seriously a 50mm Pam is not what i'm looking out for !
I would do so at certain times if...
it has the "deeper" reason that the inhouse movement needs (justiefies) such a large case - like the 5011K in the Zenith Pilot Montre d’Aéronef Type 20 does.
But I have to confess: I wear the Zenith only at weekends and on holiday. But then not just
in the fog or in the dark.

It is funny
It is funny that when a post comes out on the size of watches as in this one, four Zenith Type 20 Special owner's participate in the discussion ! I know there is a 5th on this forum. And there are a number of 48mm's and one 40mm around. Maybe time to do a Type 20 roll call?

Purity or practicality?
I truly like the 47MM size the most, it's the original.
But, the 47MM doesn't wear well on my wrist all the time.
I find that the 44MM model wears better on my smaller wrist.
Given this, I actually enjoy the 44MM model more on my wrist than the 47MM model. And now, I find that I only wear a 44MM model.
And 50MM would just not be in the consideration for me. It's not the historic classic size.

My private solution is
to hold on the crown of the Zenith and then turn the whole watch. Which seemed to be rather amusing to Dean, when I made this confession.
But otherwise I would have to do some special gym exercises.

You have to rotate watch and crown in opposite directions. Easily. Without violence. And not in a radius of 360 degrees.

50 mm would not be comfortable
at all. Maybe for a steroid taking bodybuilder (Arnold&Sly). I've got a 47 mm PAM which I really really love (design), but find it not really comfortable to wear (and I do not have small wrists at all). That's also why I'm considering trading the 379 in for a 44 mm model because I'm sure it will get more wrist time.

I do not have the 341 anymore, and it was certainly not a very practical watch, but I had a blast every time I wore it, and it always attracted a lot of attention. Although certainly not for everyone, I believe the watch you propose would be very wearable. As for the tradition aspect, that is for each person to decide.

A Watch I literally adore! I forced myself to put it on my wrist, I just couldn't wear it and its damn 50 mm +++!
At 47 mm , I would have found a solution to get it.

47mm max for me
Then again... I use to own 328 and 312 and 305 and etc... I find the 372 despite being a large watch on paper 47mm but it is much more comfortable on my wrist than the 312 or 328 44mm... Between the 305 and 372, the 372 again wears a lot more comfortable than the 305. I think the 372 is as comfortable as the 000 but the 372 much nicer... Just my very personal opinion,
