Officine Panerai

Those who have been collecting for years on hand probably have bought a lot of aftermarket and OEM straps.  I bet you clearly have "favorites" amongst your strap collection, so do you continue to add new straps?

I'm curious to see if many of our collectors here have hit "strap fatigue" or "strap collection overload" .

Let me know your thoughts!

Like you, there are a few that are my favorites and I found myself sticking to them...hence..less strap purchase..I think I am down to one or two a year...and always selling some if I am buying some..

straps bug. Still and all, when I see a really....REALLY (my taste of course) nice one, I can't help getting it. I'm strictly an OEM man and my favourite are:
JV, Assolutamente and the vintage straps (like the one for the Egiziano). I have a strap waiting for me, in the Florence Boutique, as I write...

I have tons of straps for my Panerais, but I have no Paneraid anymore...

So, no more new straps for the moment.

I'm afraid the prices and recession are taking their toll

Have bought maybe about 10 over the years, but used maybe 5 of them. Got another 10 or so which are gifts from Panerai gatherings and birthdays from horo-mates. Think I am well covered for at least next few years. Only ones I would buy, would be non brown or black affair, and maybe something really different....like some animal testicular skin in bright orange or something similar -

I enjoyed your comments and as I have quite a number of straps ( well in excess of a hundred) your thoughts and observations caused me to reflect on the subject ...

I'd have to say it probably gets down to two issues a change in my tastes and a lack of recycling...ie. reselling....

By that I mean ,when I first started collecting Panerai's I was focused on the OEM straps....I knew there were others but focused on those along with the deployant buckles....I soon migrated to the world of independent strap makers from all over the globe......and after much research started acquiring pieces that I thought were unique and stunning........ My eye then changed and I focused on heavy bight colored threads.....then ammo straps and as I begin to collect pre-V pieces I naturally migrated to the pre-V and vintage straps as well.....
And where am I today.....I guess more of a strap collector than a Panerai Collector as I have most if not all of the Destros now.....
So it's the esoteric pieces , vintage.......old,old leathers such as the Metta Catharina hides....and straps made from old leather pieces of furniture with stunning workmanship & Patinas .........there's a lot out there and many unique and stunning things...
Do I have to many straps???????? Of course I do....but as an elderly collector friend responded when told he had much more wine than he could drink in his lifetime........." I know that but the day before I die I want to have a choice."
.and that's my rational....as I continually am changing watch straps......and buckles

honnestly I have some strap fatigue for Panerai , so now I started to collect them for my other watches

I ordered my first custom strap nearly straight away after I got the watch.  Then I got a OEM Gold Calf and a JV and I have another 4 other custom straps but I haven't purchased any more.  Stopped for the moment as I am using the money for a cheaper alternative to the Bronzo

I am only buying for one or two OEM producers. I only wear comfortable straps not so much exotic one.

For radiomirs, gave up changing straps - too complicated for my tired eyes.

straps r worth a dollar to spend... OEM for me.  I'd love to be able to change dress for my pam, but I won't spend a dollar for nothing...

a friend of mine makes very nice straps!

I find that I have enough of a stable that I am never short. 

I remember waiting two years for one strap to be made.

So I guess I would say I am not buying any these days because I feel I have covered all the bases.

Over the years, have managed to stock up about 20 straps, and there are only a few which I really like.... it is like a trial and error process.
