The 217 it's still a small mystery.....
in my mind. I've looked for it, I've bought it and I've never.....liked it. It has been the first 47mm I've re-sold and I've never looked back on, nor regretted the decision. I didn't sell it "for the money", I did it because I didn't like it nor used it. I found the dial askew and asymmetrical, compared to that of the 127. Completery the opposite, my feeling towards the "brother" 127, which I've always loved unconditionally. Go figure 
The destro look is love or hate. I owned 2 destros. While I didn't "dislike" them, I always felt that they looked a little awkard.
Sold them. Then I aquired a 422 and had it for years. One day, I foolishly decided that I wanted something simpler.
What a mistake, after buying a couuple more PAMs I am now back to owning and wearing my 422 and lovng it even more this time.
Don't feel bad about liking, and then disliking a certain watch. It's all a part of this hobby that evolves over time.

Yes, a part of this hobby, and an interesting one, as there are many watches we buy, sell and re buy, to finally keep them.
I love every Panerai with "Marina Militare" on its dial!! This one I don´t own... yet. But in my wish list for a long time. Guess it will arrive sooner or later. Problem is my wish list is too long! Lol!

I haven´t been very enthusiastic with past MM Submersibles because their cases were made of ceramic or composite materials which I don´t personally like in any of my watches..
But recently Panerai launched the Pam 1697 which I feel deserves to be seen in the metal.
(I own several Subs in 44 and 44 mm cases which I like but don´t have the MM dial. Just standard dials.)

Actually not. I´m still waiting for the arrival of the new version of Pam 5218 I have ordered.
When I was a young.....
19 y.o. man, in Italy there still was the National Conscription. I served in the Marina Militare for 2 (compulsory) years. Every other Corp served for only 1 year, but the Marina was considered a specialized one and the basic training was much longer. I owed to the Marina my whole career, which started as a telex operator (yes you read right TELEX)
