It has been a while since the release of the Luminor Due "slim" line and I don't recall having seen one in here. It seems this new line hasn't really "lured" anyone of us. I am an old purist and the idea of buying a Panerai smaller that 44mm or with Automatic written on the dial has NEVER crossed my mind but I thought I was an..exception.. LOL
I think most Panerai enthusiasts who spend time on forums like this are traditionalists, which is why we tend to primarily see the 'historic' watches like the 372, 587, 000, etc with great regularity. The Due line likely appeals to the first-time Panerai buyer who knows nothing of the brand's history but likes the style of the watch and finds the other offerings too large. I would guess it will prove popular with that type of buyer but not with the WIS crowd, as evidenced here (and elsewhere) by the lack of discussion.
P. S. My wife adores her 512 so perhaps the Due line will bring more women to the brand as well.
My AD, good friend, so no bullshit info, told me the Due is going great, but to a new audience, men and women, that love the design and the small/thin profile. I guess Panerai is right in widdening its customer offerings as a brand can off course never survive on die-hards alone.
what you just wrote, goes right along with my first impression. I was in Florence for the launch of the new product. In fact I tried the one of Dr Bonati had on his wrist (I exchanged it with my 604) and found it rather handsome. I was pretty sure that all the...undecided...due to the size of their wrist and a lot of ladies were going to go..goo-goo-gaa-gaa..about the Due.
Dear Sergio: Last November I visited the Miami Panerai Boutique to purchase my 662 with my wife...

... and while I was admiring my 662 the lady manager showed the Duo to us.
I must say that I was greatly and gladly surprised: the watch looks very elegant and classy, and though it is possible that it will not atract the average hard core Panerai fan, it will please to a larger market of potential customers who would love to own a Panerai but don´t dare (or don´t like) to wear the traditional big 47 mm case.
And this watch can be very attractive both to ladies and gentlemen I feel.
The reaction of my wife was a good indication of what I say: she likes watches but she is not a true collector; nor an enthusiast. She favors simple and lower priced Brands watches, and also has an small collection of Swatch, but she inmediately fell in love with the Pam Due, and when I offered buying it she said yes inmediately. She had never accepted to buy a high end watch before.
My wife left the Boutique with her Duo on her wrist and a couple of extra straps of different colors! And I was delighted to welcome her to the World of Panerai!
Her Due is a Pam 676 42 mm case with the manual wind P.1000 movement with a 3 days power reserve. Guess Panerai will reach a different and bigger niche with this series.
Ciao Sergio!! They already offer the 45mm but with an automatic movement which you don´t like of course. I´m almost sure they will offer the manual movement in 45 mm too, but ...

... I´m not so sure they will offer a Due in 47 mm as they are playing with the offering of a smaller sized watch.
