Same case as 372?
This ticks a lot of boxes for me. Is the case exactly the same as that of the 372, or like the Fiddy?
Any further thoughts on these two beautiful Panerais?
I've had my eye on a 587 for a while, especially with the recent, beautiful photographs of this watch here -- but the 673 has its charms too.
For those who were on the fence regarding one or the other, what did you finally decide, and do you prefer one or the other?
Given my 6.75" wrist, does one or the other wear or look a touch smaller? I realize that 'smaller' does not apply to either ;-)

Maybe we can say that the 587 is more elegant, and the 673 more macho. Two monsters, two lovely ones. You can't go wrong with either.
But if I had to choose only one, I would probably go for the 587. Unless I go for the 662, then in this case, I'd pick the 673 to diversify the cases.

Is 'Marina Militare' more appropriate for a 1940 case than a 1950 case?
I'm new to Panerai so am just learning the history, but given that the 587 is a Radiomir 1940 case, isn't this ideal for the Marina Militare designation since the Italian Navy made its name in WWII? Maybe this is irrelevant or I'm missing something but the parallel between the name and the case period seems appealing and right. Would the words 'Marina Militare' apply equally well to a 1950s case. Again, just asking!
The answer to your question is: no!
If you really..really, wanted to nitpick, you could draw the line between pre-bellic/bellic production (2533-3646 models) and post bellic one (6154-6152/6152-1 cases). There is no post-bellic models that "deserves" the Marina Militare wording more than any other.

The wording is equally applicable. There's no Marina Militare...
stereotype model, in the Panerai production. Nowadays the wording only..celebrates..the long standing relationship between the two parties. PAM36 and PAM82 and PAM339 are a practical proof of this

Both the 587 and 673 are beautiful watches. A difficult choice, made easier by the fact that it's pretty hard to find a new 587 at this time! It was also about $1,000 less expensive, if I recall.
The 587 will look and feel smaller due to the missing crown guard. i personally would most likely go with the 587.

9 months later. Did you ever acquire either of these? I like the 587, since I don't like the crown lock protector. And 47mm quite big. Will they ever do this in 45mm?? [nt]

these models are for grassroots/die-hard Paneristi, not for "turists" that buy watches just because they like them or because the colour of the strap, matches the colour of their...socks...at the moment of the purchase. That's why they make them in...Limited Editions. As the adage go: you can make few people happy most of the times. You can make a lot of people happy sometimes. Not really. The original Panerais were 47 mm big. Except two: The Mare Nostrum: 52 mm, and the Egiziano: 60 mm. So, 47 mm is THE size. [nt]

45mm and very thin. But then don't ask for more history on these models. Matches to me only to a radiomir though . Crown guard on a thin luminor looks silly on my point of view
