Ciao everybody!
Over this past new year holidays i had the most blessed of opportunity to visit and discuss about the all new Mclaren MP4-12C at it's Tokyo showroom.
While this car is spectacular in it's own right, you may call me biased indeed but for me a car, especially a sports coupe is NOT perfect unless it is in my most adored of all colours, Midnight Blue!
Thus i went down to the dealer just to check out what would be such an equivalent for this beautiful, pure and precise machine?
My answer, Sapphire Black.
Dont be fooled by the name folks, as often in the automotive industry when naming a colour, they take hints and ideas from the natural world, in this case a play on the word "Sapphire".
What is Blue, yet is Black?
Midnight blue, that is!
I kid you not, but this has got to be virtually the MOST beautiful colour i have ever seen to ever adorn a car in probably my entire existence!
Once again, biased? Yes, very well so!
I'd thus like to share with all of you the shots that i took of the swatch of this very elegant, antiquated, most precise and represents more than everything, Sapphire Black of the all new Mclaren MP4-12C.
Enjoy
Stephen

Voila! Sapphire Blue.

All Blue, Bleu, Blu!

I think you'll have a fabulous time with the service that Mclaren provides!
The 3rd chip is the Blue, which is a standard paint for no fee, while the Sapphire Black is considered a special colour, and in Japan costs an extra $4000 when opted for. It is indeed the one on the 10th place from left.
Are you sure you like the Blue though? It is the same one that i did a contrast shot with! It is surprisingly quite ugly if i am say so.
Well, you probably will have a much higher chance for me to see a real car painted out in SB, cause in Japan they have not even ordered one in this most beautiful of colours!
I agree with what you say about the car in reality, but one has to take into consideration the lighting condition, and even our differing eyes! In camera it probably looks black the most, and thus fail to project the real quality of the car.
In my GT5 game at least, the BS and Carbon Black looks totally different though! And this is a game!
Bought it for the 2nd time last night!
Cheers

Although it seems weird that i dont receive the paint chip at all.
Happened in the 1st car purchase too!
Funny.

The depreciation is crazy in here!
Here in my hood, the MP4-12C, even used, is still commanding a small premium, given the waiting list!!!
That way i could sell my rare beauties and get even rarer ones!
But some of their prices are insanely high!
Damn!
Which is SO BAD when i did a comparison with the Sapphire Black that i think it does NOT deserve a posting!
I went CRIKEY!
Please do bro! And no worries!
Glad you enjoyed it too!

... .
... that's what i think at least
As the 1st model car for the dealership has not arrived. They are just taking orders without you being able to see the car.
Hah! It's like me and my family, well used to be until i trained all their eyes to see the difference between true Midnight and Black!
Hoho, the MP4-12C is definitely way out of my league, i just went in for some information, and yes if i do buy a car, the BRZ is probably what i can afford! I am looking with anticipation as to what Blue is offered on it, which is suspect will be the WR Blue of Subaru, which isnt that nice. I might have to go with Toyota's 86, which is offered in a much darker blue.
I know what you mean my friend!
Cheers
