Dear Sirs
Got this Cosmic, OJ2473 yesterday at an auktion in Copenhagen. Fair price and a huge "check" on the old to-get list.
Also it's my first moonphase, so I'm intangled in sideral moons, 29,53 days and what not. Hope there is a clear sky tonight
All though I'm very happy with the dial, I would, as always, appreciate you comments regarding it's originality.
By the way,- I posted a similar request about a black dialed Constallation some time ago.
An extract from Omega archives show it was delivered to "US Marine" in 1963. (Hence the black dial
)
Kind of cool to have a gold-caped military Constellation. Guess I'll need a extra natostrap
Yours
Jacob

Hi Thomas,
first of all huge congrats on this beauty - in the picture it seems to be rose gold (my favorite color) - am I right?
Concerning the dial - it is very hard to tell from this picture... I do not dare to make a final statement, it well might be an original dial.
Mike has pointed out some facts but they are within small margins - there are so many iterations of these cosmics and so are the dials...
Please try to make a large high resolution picture without the glass - best to take out the whole movement/dial combo - so also the rim of the dial will be visible.
I tend to say it is original but I would not dare to bet...
enjoy your new "beauty"
regards
Erich
Dear Sirs
Thank you so much for your forthcoming replies so far,- they are really appreciated, and many apologies regarding photo quality !
I’m incapable of taking a picture that is even approximately close to the actual nuance of the dial, which is an evenly grayish champagne. The subdial has a circular texture/pattern that gives it a slightly more silver like shine.
The gold color is copperish,- not sure about the terminology pink-, yellow-, red- and rose colored gold. The hands are exactly the same color as the case.
I’m inclosing yet another amateurish photo, only this time in high definition and a photo with the sibling OJ 2439 from 1952. The later photo gives a better impression of the wabi-sabi to the Cosmic.
Looking
at these old dials, there is always something to wonder about, doubt, admire
and recognize. Wearing the watches always gives you a feeling of being in tune
with time past and time to come
.
It’s a great hobby and really nice to share on occasion.
Once again many thank for your input gentlemen.
Yours Jacob
