Hi Graham Thanks for your kind remark. I do have a little bit more of the same extraction: The blackdialed 168.005 was delivered to US Marine in 1963, according to the extract,- alas no markings to that effect on the watch :-) Datejust ref. 6605 from 1957,- the most precise watch in my collection. I
Dear Sirs My latest cacth,- the wonderfull dog-legged Constellation pie-pan in the increasingly rare 18 carat version. Happy days ! Here in the middel of a familie foto with my ref. OJ2439, 14 carat chronograph, cal. 321 and my 14 carat OJ2473 Cosmic moonfase. The Connie is 1966, the chrono 1952 og
Dear Todd In my oppionion the dial is most defenitely a redial. The overall look is quite off, because the ring of dates are too far from the rim. The tip of the hour hand has been coloured to mask it now beeing to long. Several elements are downright wrong. The size and quality of the font used in
Could not agree more,- the mark 11 is a very attractive watch. Actually the IWC version is the reason I got caught op in this wonderfull madness. At the time I thought the IWC mark 11 ridiculous exspensive, so I got the IWC mark 12. Still I couldn´t get the mark 11 out of my head (Idreamt of it !),
Hi Andrew It's a nice looking dial, but I would exspect more serif on the font. Can't hardly se any on "Constallation". Also several elements are ever so slightly out of allignment. Ex. the top arm of the star not being completely vertical. Nice dial though, and a tuff call that warrents several sec
Hi Bill Hmm,- apart from the above mentioned it strikes me, that the dial layout is for a hunter type case, yet it is in a savonette type case. The case-back is not hinged as it usually is, and there is no dustcover,- recased ? Very nice movement ! Yours Jacob
A very nice question that brings back memories of sleepless nights, doubt, lust and want :-) Very early in my watch collecting career I stumpeled upon IWC's mark 11 on the Internet. Completely besudden I literally dreamt about the watch, and couldn´t dismis it, in spite of what I considered a ridicul
Dear Bill This is a very interesting tread for me, but I have this odd feeling, that something is pasing way above my head. I asked why the watch you showed is called "Pre-rg", and since the movement to my eye looks like any early 30 mm, I thought it had to do with the layout of the dial. Later Art
Hi Bill Thanks for your input,- and what a nice "pre Rg". I suppose it's called pre-rg because of the semi-scientific dial layout (?). The fabulous exampel I'm dreaming and raving about is this; This is creme de la creme as I understand it, and I will surely have to settle for a more modest specimen
Dear Sirs I'm starting to research the 30 mm Omega chronometer watches much more determined, as I find myself wanting one more and more. (here we go againg :-)) Learning more about these great watches at my level is not that difficult,- there is a great wealth of material on the net, but finding exa
