I'm certain many people will be mortally wounded by this type of crossover, but I think it's fun. And I loved the Moonswatch.
My ambivalence is due more to the resignation that Blancpain will be a quasi-prisoner of its most famous model - even to fashion-level enthusiasts. At this point, assume each of Swatch's major brands will get a plastic version of its most famous watch, and perhaps there's already a Breguet "PlasTourbillon" in the works based on the old Diaphane One. But it would have been REAL bold and daring of Swatch to pick something like a sporty 2100 series Blancpain or 80s style calendar/moon as the basis for the Swatch edition.
I guess there's always the possibility that some Swatch/FF buyers will revisit the brand in the future and consider a fine dress watch. At least it's on their radar in theory. The Atlantic and Indian ocean editions look great. School bus yellow wasn't a bad call for the Pacific, but that dial feels like a mismatch with the case. Mechanical was the right way to go - keep the "no quartz" Blancpain pseudo-boast alive even in Swatch form.
Best,
Tim
