I have always liked this rotor as well. But I am ok w/ it hidden behind the Survivor's very cool solid caseback.
I recall years ago a Panerai post in which the owner was quite surprised upon opening the caseback
The movement lacked the decorations applied to open back models. No such issue with AP, and most other brands, I would hope.

Well, I am certain I could get it all apart...
But putting it back together would be another story!
What a beast of a watch this Audemars Piguet Survivor is.

That second photo is both thrilling and terrifying
Seeing a movement laid bare like that every wheel, every jewel, every screw is a reminder of just how much artistry goes into these pieces. That gold rotor with the AP coat of arms is a work of art in its own right. I've always loved the Offshore for its boldness, but moments like this make you appreciate the precision underneath the muscle.
Fingers crossed the reassembly goes flawlessly. Keep us posted the Survivor deserves to live up to its name!

My caliber 3126 experiences have always been outstanding. It is well suited to the Offshore chronograph.

These things are still quite delicate with so many parts even when they look tough on the outside.
