Whilst its as far as possible from being a watch Iād acquire, when you hold it in the flesh thereās something to it. Looking through a loupe into the eyes of the panther is quite something.

I've brought this up before. But he wears so many different AP models (and he does it well, just like the one above) but they don't do anything else with him in regards to marketing, new signature watch, ... all that. 1 signature model a decade or so ago. So it made me wonder several times if he's still linked to AP. Since he wore a couple of Rolex models throughout the years which he didn't do in the first few years with AP.

You are confused my friend. Core values remain at heart -nothing is cheap about the watch. AP is just embracing few other segments. Here is an attempt to break 'the' mold. There is a ...
...whole another class of classy ppl who don't fit into the old mold. Watch may not appeal to old molded class but it certainly delivers a powerful message of inclusion to different but real breed of collectors.
Nope, sorry to disagree my friend -- you might be making confusion if you think this watch has so much to do with a....watch! ;-) We may like it or not technically, and that's fine: in fact, horology is the *only* thing I look for in a watch! ;-)
But I don't need a watch brand to "educate" me about the usual "core values" or anything else. I'm old and happy enough that this just doesn't cut it with me. Read their press release and you'll see exactly what they mean -- there's political correctness all over it. Note that I'm saying this *regardless* of where you or I may stand on social or political issues, which are obviously VERY important topics -- but this is not the proper venue to discuss them, despite this brand's best attempt to bring them front and center. Certain topics are only divisive and have nothing to do with this hobby, whichever perspective is being promoted.
Given this, as usual anyone is free to do whatever they please with their money. If they like these Marvels AND all that AP is now trying to sell with them, then they should go ahead and purchase an AP. But I feel I have an obligation to point out what's the clear message the brand is sending, because for some posters the discussion was about the watch being cute or not. Now, AP itself is asking us to see well beyond the horological aspects of their product. And that is precisely where I back off my friend, whichever *their* political positions ;-)
Hope this clarifies my thought, in the most independent (and honest) way possible. In fact, I sincerely feel sorry for AP as a brand. I always kept it, and its history, in extremely high regard before this ;-)

Iām not sure FabR, sympathy isnāt tied so solidly to political adherence for all. The sentiment more than the politics is what matters.
Iāve said already, AP supporting improvement, through charities, in the lives of underprivileged youth makes me more proud to own one. Remember, faith based groups often do similar work. To admire the difference they can make doesnāt necessitate an adherence to those faiths.

I have to agree with FabR. Audemars has in 1992 created the Royal Oak foundation wristwatch,
which featured the image of a tree on the dial to support its charity of saving the planet and through
preservation of forests. This I found tasteful and beautiful.
But the image portrayed in this watch has an element of politics to it, and imho horology, as in sports, should be free
from politics and religion in such a manner ie iconography. Now if thatās ok with you thatās your opinion and entitled
to it. But whatās next for AP? A dial with the image of Jesus? Itās just not the right direction for a storied brand as AP.
Itās not a distaste for politics or religion that makes us feel this way, but rather our love for horology and AP.

Yes, certainly. But environmental causes have and continue to be as much associated with political leanings as anything.
This entire Marvel affair has been way over scrutinized. I'm not scouring the minutiae as so many and reading into everything so much.
AP make incredible watches and have the most solid design platform in the business. That's what I enjoy and chose to focus on. Best

As far as this watch is concerned i have a differing opinion. Itās not just this one watch that we are discussing
but more so the direction AP is taking, the road itās heading down so to speak.
