From the era I enjoyed JLC the most. Elegant proportions at 37mm diameter and a thin case.

It reminds me of how much I loved my old platinum Grande Memovox from the same blue/PT950 series. JLC really sweated the details back then including 6x adjustment, platinum rotor masses to match the cases, and platinum buckles - not like the WG used on current JLC PT watches. A few also had glorious hunter casebacks like yours - which is all-time beautiful.

This dial, in my mind, is a re-rendition of the classical calendar-moonphase from early-mid 20th century. The wonderful puzzle in my mind is that JLC could—especially for the Perpetual model—condense so much graphics and information in a sub-37 dial and make it look balanced, elegantly legible and good.
Back when JLC had soul... Let's hope new management comes so the brand can come back to this standard.

I was at the boutique yesterday to collect a strap for the watch and it struck me that not much has changed in their Master line since the 1990s/early 2000s (other than size), while the Reverso
line has lost a lot of the complications from that era. And prices have gone up to eye watering levels (at least in my mind, for what’s on offer).
But that is true of most brands as I suppose that’s what customers these days are looking for, so for the most part, I stopped collecting and started appreciating what I had.

My reading…
Is that most, if not all major brands, have crossed the rubicon on their development. I share the same position of appreciating many of these neo vintage pieces as well. When a steel time only watch can cost more than 3-4 times of these PT pieces the (cynical) horizon has become exceeding clear.
I just don't see how these price hikes are going to be sustainable in the long run.
There will come a time when sales won't be nearly as good. What will these brands do? Most luxury brands have too much pride to lower their prices, and this could lead to their downfall. I hope they realize it in time and they start cutting back on this insanity, focusing on giving the customers what they want instead.

The size increase is awful, but the price increase is even worse, it's a punch to the stomach of their collectors. I hate how JLC is being mistreated, because I love the brand.
Superb PC , the dial is splendid, and the platinium case must be a wonder to wear ! It was perhaps the " golden age " for JLC, even if they are still some "portable" productions ....
