Yes I agree ownership should not be the only criteria, there are some friends who have the passion and the knowledge so keeping in mind their abilities JlC should make them 'Honorary Members' what say?

By the time they actually get serious about their servicing n products, that breath could be stale n best bring the mouthwash along.

As multiple or serial owners of FPJ watces, we always 'hope' for improved quaity or at least improved service but it ain't happening...yet.

It all depends on the 'attitude' of the principals......quality must come from the top.

Believe me, you will see the after sales service machinery groaning into action a lot:  80% of our FPJ watches (current Mrs MTF and mine) have returned for repair or component defects; some of them more than once to repair the.....er....repair! 

The good news is that we have sold 80% of our FPJ watches (after servicing) and maybe the rest will behave themselves.  They look pretty anyway.

will persists if people keep buy these watches as to FPJ, he probably thinks owners are willing to suffer the poor product?

It's nice to see a brand offer a way to get a bit closer to its users. Why does one need to own a watch first? What about people interested in the watch? By way of comparison, VC has a nice forum supported by the company, and it's open to all. It was a great place to ask a few questions and find out more about the brand before picking out my watch. Interestingly, the terms of use when one signs up includes the following paragraph: "The content of the News section in the F.P.Journe Club is strictly confidential and intended to the Club members, owners of F.P.Journe watches only. With your agreement, you commit to reveal no information on the F.P.Journe Club to anybody other than its members." So it appears that they're limiting membership because they want to share some news with existing owners in advance. Okay, so why not open the the rest of the forum to all, but hide that section from people who have not provided proof of ownership?

I didn't see this clause but there is strangely no mention of registration privileges eg news or invitations to events. The registration requirements are odd because if you can't find your warranty card or bought a pre-owned one without a warranty card, you would not be able to register which is surely not the aim of FPJ.

 

 and here im speaking in generally and not only about FP journe , i see this fancy yada yada forums... clubs... call them whatever ,  popping up on each brands site like a pop corn , am i a supporter of that concept?! ... not in the form it is... those places " majority , not all " are just brain wash like forums no matter how angelic they  seem like... anyway im not here to judge im here to suggest!!

i would suggest a library with an easy access , easy search engine for the information or the history of timepieces by the brand.... a better response to owners or potential owners would be sufficient ...

why i don't support the private forum for each brand EVEN when its OPEN to every one? simply because it doesn't seem practical to jump from one brand site to another , unless a specific information is needed.. however i find such a home like ours PURISTS PRO is a very sufficient on majority of brand and aspects regarding those brands .

 for FP journe i say pull out of such PRIVATE and CLASSFIED style... those methods are an old MODA now  and above all they are no longer a secret to  people that  thats the path to brain wash ..

I also dun like "closed" clubs, whereby u have to own their timepieces to be a member, but I must say that strategy make sense. If it is not used as a sales channel for new customer acquisition, why not? And I guess there are very fervent FPJ owners who will stand up for the brand come what may, so this is gonna be one of those closed circuit type, providing a place for fellow owners to pat each other on their backs for their FPJ ownership. Also, since it is a closed forum, it will be easier to censor any negative criticism, unlike a space like here, where anyone from the 13 year old school kid to 103 year old retiree, can post their thoughts, negative or positive. Lastly, I think it may be viewed as a step forward, if FPJ use it to really communicate and service their existing pool of customers, and give them the level of support they deserve. I personally will sign up once I find that damn box n papers, and see how it goes.

I hope it  will be a valuable resource. (I won't know, as I neither have nor expect to buy an FPJ watch.) Given the circumstances, though, it feels as if they want to be in a position to exert more control over how their watches are discussed. I understand the reasons for that, but I don't feel very comfortable with it.

LeClub (the FPJ-owned website and not the sandwich) was possibly one of the reasons for the demise of the PuristSPro forum......

As a relative newbee to the PP site and having recently acquired an FPJ Octa RA, what were the issues that caused the FPJ forum to be closed?  Am I missing something?

Check for older posts. There is a explanation by the owners and moderators of purists pro. In a nutshell, the brand was not receptive to purists approach to forum maintenance, and they went separate ways. A lot of in betweens are not for me to poke my nose into, nor should I. Cheers mate, enjoy your octa reserve, mine in cold storage, for the forseable future.

... but only registered members can post. And you need to own a Journe with a Warranty Card (because you need to enter the watch serial number as well as the date of purchase and boutique). Even for a company that is 10 years old, there must be watches being sold without box and papers. There is an option to contact the manufacture, so I assume that if your watch is not stollen you will still be able to join.

But it does exclude non-owners from participating in discussion which is unfortunate. There must be potential owners that would love to ask questions and participate.

The upside is that the various Boutique staff are moderating, so it should give much more direct access to information, particularly for the majority of people who don't have a Journe Boutique in their back yard.

Well there's no boutique here. I don't own an FPJ. Therefore I can't post questions. How can I ask questions to get more direct access to information?

Unregistered users can view inserted images (links to image servers) but not uploaded attachments. that seems internally inconsistent to me.
