It's been a very active work week for me, and I'm glad it's finally Friday!!

Speedmaster, the Greatest Watch On Earth .

No pics at the moment, but then again it's not like anybody doesn't know what it looks like .

I miss my Speedmaster, so I'm kind of glad you didn't post a pic. ;-)  Is yours a Moon Watch?  It's my fave.

. . .that's a great looking watch, Jeff- yep, just a bogstandard regular issue 1861, solid caseback Speedy Pro moonwatch.  Every now and then I like to sit down after the kids are in bed, pour a tall whisky, put on the Speedy, and watch Apollo 13. 

Hmmmmm. . . in fact. . .

And a little Novus #2 to polish the crystal with my bare thumb until it's, you know, liquid smooth.  Your watch is exactly the same model as mine was.  sigh.

... but back in 2000, when the manual-wound Speedmaster with the moonphase was presented by Omega, I really fell in love with that particular watch - and the light colour contrast between the stainless steel case and the 18k white gold bezel. Back then, I did not want to spend the money, but a few months ago, I got the opportunity to trade a watch I was not wearing enough (some of you might think I was crazy - it was a IWC GST Aquatimer in steel) for that beauty, which I do not regret.

Let me know the exact model "Speedo" I'm drooling over. I must admit I wasn't crazy about your strap selection at first, but it keeps growing on me. As always wear it in good health, Miki

... the warranty card says it's the reference no. 35752000. I know this exact model was not a limited edition, but not built in large quantities. Later, the optically identical model was presented, albeit with a steel bezel, vs. the white gold one. I think this is one of Omega's most serious handicaps: they are releasing such a vast variety of models, case diameters, and references, all so similar to each other, that for a collector, the brand is not very interesting.

Regarding the strap: Well, I am a strap-O-maniac, and change straps almost weekly. I have the steel bracelet for that watch, but think it is not a very good match for that pseudo-vintage/elegant style. I had a blue and tan gator straps (with white stitching) going with it, but then I saw that new Hirsch strap in the catalogue, and decided to give it a try. In the beginning, I was sceptical, as you are, but after a few days, I more and more like it. It reminds me of shoes from the Thirties, and underlines the watch's vintage character.

a big help. I have site issues but they are surpassed by my desire to own a "Speedo" as they really speak to me. That being said, I believe that the white face with blue markers and sweeps, especially in the Broad Arrow, will work for me.
Additionally I too love different straps and much prefer leather. Are you able to simply remove the metal bracelet and attach a leather strap or does it require an additional clip? Thanx-again, Miki

... you just need a not too wide springbar tool.

I used to wear pocketwatches a lot, but it created too many problems and false expecations, especially when wearing tight jeans...

"What IS that bulge and WHY is there a chain...?"
"It's a 19 line half-hunter."
"Oh my!"

Sets false expecations and leads to disappointment.

I hope the death of your digital camera is not a fatal condition but rather a question of recharging the battery.
