Slight Dilemma
As many of you know on here In really would like to have a Cartier tank watch.
Longines has come into picture, the Dolce Vita tank watch. I am considering a
quartz Cartier tank, the large is priced at $3800, the Dolce Vita is an automatic
and is priced at $2000, hence the dilemma. Cartier's heritage vs Longines
I am torn between the Cartier and saving $1800 to get the Longines.
Neither would be an everyday watch, just part of the rotation.
Any thought, comments and ideas would be appreciated.
I had a Dolce Vita many years ago, Thomas. It was a nice watch but I think you should wait and buy a Cartier.
There is just something special about having a Cartier on the wrist. And, a quartz movement would fit that bill just fine for me.
I have learned over the years that buying on price alone does not work for me especially a lifetime item. Buy what your heart tells you. Patrick

Why not get a second hand Cartier?
If what you want is a new watch by all means buy a new one, I’d wait & go with the Cartier though. For me quartz or automatic wouldn’t matter as Cartiers automatic movements are nothing special.
I'd want the Cartier.
I appreciate the history and heritage, and anything else would feel like too much of a compromise.
Every time you look at that Dolce it will remind you that it's not a Tank.

I REALLY appreciate the responses,
when the time comes I will get the Cartier, hopefully
sooner than later, but I need to have a better 2026
than my 2025 was. Quartz is still at the top of the list,
it is always set to the correct time, and is reasonably
accurate, make that more than reasonably accurate.
No second hand so no one will notice, and if they do
