Again a few years ago Seiko issued a 50-year commemorative watch, a 50-unit run of Astron and it was in gold like the first one, with a special solar movement.
Mine is the 40th anniversary model.

Wearing my Seiko Astron today, I began to wonder about caseback shapes.
How many are concave:
Curved to confirm with the arm’s circumference.
Versus those that are convex, or protruding into the space between your arm’s bones (or into your arm itself).
As in the Bell & Ross Space4?
Can anyone nominate a comfortable hero, or a hard-to-wear villain?
Of course watches with transparent caseback are generally flat on the back, but perhaps not in every case(back). Ha ha.

The GP Vintage 45 is THE perfect example of a curved case back. Ulysse Nardin 160, too.
If i am not mistaken, early cartier santos has curved caseback.
Also Tank Cintree. GP vintage 1945.
To my wrist, the best caseback is the Yacht-Master 1. Unique in design, it's different in its detail, I believe, from other Rolex models and, especially for quite a large watch, is exceptionally comfortable.

Interesting topic! I don't think the case back has a big impact on comfort for most watches...
One key aspect that is relevant when I pick up a watch is how it catches with cuffs or anything it could encounter while wearing it (pieces of furniture but also people's arms for example).
For example, I find the Breitling Aerospace very catchy, which is a bit annoying. My JLC MUT34 is extremely comfortable, I guess the curved lugs are key contributors to this comfort.

More About the Astron
The first Astron-labeled watch was Seiko's first quartz model. Here's a photo from the Seiko museum - you can see the shape.
Typical Seiko dial with secret details, although normally it just appears glossy black.
It came with all you see here - although I put it on the leather strap pretty early and haven't changed since. Maybe I should check the other straps.
Mine is one of the Anniversary editions - I bought it on a whim at Feldmar's in Los Angeles while on my way to a Feb 29th GTG in Santa Monica. One of 200, it had come out a year earlier and somehow got lost in their inventory OR in 2012 no one wanted to touch a quartz watch with list price $4000. They showed it to me, offered about 30% discount and I bought it on the spot.

The case is a combination of ceramic and titanium parts
I think I have changed the battery about 4 times in 10 years.

Much later (after the original), Astron became the name used for the Satellite GPS
All the quartz, solar, GPS and Spring Drive watches came from the Seiko Epson / Shinshu Watch Studio.

I have a 'regular' wrist that takes a Rolex without altering the bracelet, so it surprises me how many watches I find uncomfortable. As a result, for 'daily wearers' I always try before I buy.
Wouldn’t call it a villain but you are “AWARE” of it on your wrist…
I like that because it always reminds me that IMO this watch is a BADASS of all BADASS watches…
I fear for the doorframes in your boat and house
They are just as likely to get damaged as that watch is!
