Show your buckle!

Dear Purists

How much does the buckle of the watch strap add to your enjoyment of the watch?

I had my vintage Omega on my wrist today and it struck me that the vintage buckle really makes my day:

But there have been watches I've bought where I didn't care about what buckle it came in (my only preference being a simple tang buckle over deployments).

What are your preferences? Please, show your favourites!

Interesting theme

Very nice, this one, too.

A work of art!

Superb, lots of Patek class there! ;-)

I really like that one.

I dig the ones on bracelet clasps where the crown sticks out too:

I love vintage JLC pin buckles, too.

Those are very nice.

I like the one on the geophysic tribute:

Yes, you see the inspiration... ;)

The correct buckle is essential.

They can be difficult to research and even harder to find, but I definitely prefer wearing a watch with a correct buckle.

A small thing, but it does work wonders.

Ah, you speak . . .

 By: Dr No : October 14th, 2021-16:56
. . . my language!

I spend almost as much time and effort hunting down appropriate vintage buckles as I do for my Omegas.

This one . . .

. . . takes the cake.  Acquired thru an eBay auction . . . paid an arm and a leg for it, and given need would do so again.

Thanks to your recommendation…

was waiting to find an appropriately sized strap to put it on before posting (current strap is too wide) but seeing as how the subject was raised I figured I’d show it off. Thanks again for pointing it out to me.

Nice find!

You must have been very persistent!

Sadly, the buckle for my Pie Pan is as fake as yours is genuine. The watch is good, though, and here's a gratuitous shot.

Not a necessity but certainly a nice touch..

Buckle from my Bell & Ross BR123-92 rubber strap.

Agree. Especially on a vintage watch.

Thanks for sharing.

Never seen that one before.

Nice and solid!

Nice thread, glad I (barely) didn't miss it after a very long day! ;-) One of the lovely, "hidden" features of a Patek I picked up this summer is indeed its buckle, engraved in Platinum (like the dial and case)....Here is a closeup of it:

The 5088/100P buckle

The 5088/100P

Even the buckle is a work of art!

Agree, the dial would have totally been enough and yet they chose to give the watch this extra artistic touch! ;-) Cheers.

That one takes the cake.

 By: Ruffian : October 15th, 2021-08:21
It reminds me of the engraving one sees on the sides of some vintage Harwood watches.

Thanks, theme was dubbed "Volutes and Arabesques" -- it's a true joy to have on the wrist! ;-) Cheers.

These do make such a difference to the entire timepiece.
