But the honest truth is, an icon/legend needs no reintroduction or modification. Any alteration would have to come from the company (PP) itself to make sense.
I feel the 5711 is just another watch, its not really rare or anything truly special. I personally know over 20 people who have had or currently own this watch. If the owner of it wants to spice it up, than more power to them. The real question is why? Would the outcome be better than a Logical 1, an AP Double Balancier, etc. etc.
My short answer to my own question is “no”. It looks fine, it is making headlines, the guy who commissioned this probably has 3x 5711/1As anyway and did this just to kill a little boredom and to impress his other rich friends. He could have easily blown the same amount of money in one night on a big night out with Champagne and other extra curriculars. I wish I had such options!😉
"How to simultaneously destroy an icon and set $150k on fire"...I was gonna write it without quotation marks but it could really be the title of a best selling book! ;-))
For all the negative reactions, it is ultimately up the owner to do what he/she wants with their possession.

I like the skeltonization of the caliber, front and back, but I despise the carbon fiber bezel. Had AdG kept the orig bezel, I believe it would be a more coherent and in my opinion better looking final product. So for me, it misses the mark despite much of it being quite special. Skeletonizing well a caliber with the amount of hand finishing evident from these pics is not an easy task. I don't understand why it took three years though, unless there was a lot of back and forth on design elements of the skeletonization. For sure a polarizing watch ;-) My 0.02 Cheers, Tim
