I think it's that I normally wear 36-38mm so I am just not used to a time only watch being 40 mm!

Looking at the picture I understand your concern, but the watch itself fits perfectly. The white dial makes it look big (or bigger than it is).

I do feel after a while of use it is a tad bit too big for me (at least for a time only watch), and am thinking of parting with it for a different watch!
It doesn't look big in my opinion, and usually these types of pictures make watches seem bigger than they are.
The strap works well with this case/dial.

It's not 36 or 37mm for sure, which clearly might be the optimal size (for you and me both). But it definitely seems good on the wrist and perhaps it's just a case of your eyes/brain needing time to adjust. [nt]

I think the strap makes it look a bit better. The brown alligator that came with the watch was a bit too much for me!
