Trade 5127R plus cash for 5130R?
Hi guys,
Would you trade the 5127R plus cash for 5130R? I know one is a complication the other is not, my question is mainly about aesthetics. The case of both watches is different, although 5127 is 2 mm smaller.

In fact, both are great watches. 5127 is very classic, while world-timer is a big specialty for Patek. Both look very pretty on the wrist.
If the 37mm case is not too small for you, I will personally recommend 5110. This being said, 5130R is still a great watch. I just find the dial of 5110 more refined and balanced.

I would do so, but I am biased, as I am a big fan of WTs.
And I don't like dates...
But you might have a different opinion.

My opinion, for what it's worth, would be no to the trade.
Not that I don't like the 5130 but I find this watch one which I would wear occasionally whereas the 5127, I would wear far more frequently.
Now, with respect to the appearance, the 5130 is far more interesting and that is what is appealing to me but I also recognize I may tire of it after a while. The 5127, while much more conservative in appearance, is one I don't believe I would grow tired of.
Not knowing what other watches you have makes your question more difficult to answer. If you have other pieces similar to the 5127, then the 5130 would add some diversity and interest.

5127 is a keeper
The 5130, although with a lovely globe hour hand and hence looking like scissors, is simply too big.
It is more a casual elegance watch with a sporty touch, in white metal in particular.
The pusher is useless.
The only real reason to go for the 5130: if you are as romantic as the famous French lawyer who likes to travel in his imagination around the world,
looking at this watch.
The 5127 is the all rounder here: formal and casual, but certainly with a lack of va-va-voom compared to the WT.
Still: 5127 my choice.

Definitely trade!
5127 is a bit boring for my tastes, plus, if I wanted a refined Calatrava, I would rather go the 5396, thats definitely a keeper.
5130 although may seem big, actually wears smaller due to the rounded bezel. I have a small wrist and it works well for me.
Also, the micro rotor is awesome, and the WT complication is actually real handy (if not you're not travelling yourself, its real helpful to know what the time is for your colleagues.I'm on conference calls alot with people around the world and it helps.)
Worse case if you dont like it, you can always find another 5127, they're not that hard to find out there, the 5130 (especially in rose gold) is much harder
No brainer
Patek will always make a basic Calatrava and you can always pick one up new or used. The world timer is a different story. Patek stopped production for decades before bringing back the 5110. If that happens again it will be much harder to get one. Plus the world timer is a quintessential patek complication.
Think it over.
The WT is a classic PP, no question. But the 5127 is the epitome of what made Patek Patek. A simple watch of unassailable classicism, understatement, and perfect beauty.

It would seem like a no-brainer to trade for the WT because it's an up-trade in terms of dollars and complication, but... think it over.
A classic Patek, time and date, that's really something.
I still regret not buying the first really nice watch I ever wanted (not the first Good mechanical watch, but the first REALLY NICE watch.) A patek 5107 G, for..... drumroll please... 8K brand new!!!! ( I was offered a deal.)
I did not buy it.
Years later, It may be too smal for my current taste, but it is truly beautiful, and the type of design we see less and less of, and which is less and less prized.
VC is making some really classic time only watches these days, incredibly beautiful and composed. But add a date... and you find very few getting it so right as the 5107 and 5127.
Think it over. It isn't as easy a choice as some might think.
Unless .......
.....you have a strong attraction to WT regardless 5110 or 5130, it might be more prudent not to make the swap. However I can understand that without really owning the WT, you might never know how you actually feel. Tough decision..Good luck !

Stunning, simple, practical, and can be used a lot more on a daily basis than a W/T.

Hi everyone,
Thank you all for making me think differently about this. There are many pro and conc to consider here. I am afraid that the delta in cash will be so large that I will need to through in a Rolex in a mix to make this work. Still have not decided though which way to go. Might just keep my 5127R at the end and be content with it.

My vote is a definite yes to the WT trade based on my experience with a PP WT 5131 which uses the same movement as the 5130. Also the pusher is great as one push moves 3(!!!) functions, the scissors for the time, city and 24 hour dial !! So when you fly to a different city, all you need to do is push the button to that city when you land. I also have a breguet WT which is also a very nice watch but the "pusher" only adjusts the city and I need to separately adjust the time manually.
5130 looks more sophisticated while elegant and functional (especially if you have multi-city conference calls and / or you need to travel to different time zones).
