well, for that money you can get a
... 5170 instead, which is has got a technical superior movement that is more in-house and is smaller.
However, if collectability is the main focus then rather this 5070.
But still ....

5070 YES in any case (litterally)
As my friends here of course I'll give you a clear YES answer as 5070 is a real musthave.
The real question is not "Yes or no" but "Which version ?". Hereafter my very personal answers:
- J if you like its vintage inspired look, but you have to know it has a strong character so be sure to try it on your wrist before pulling the trigger
- R if you like coloured gold in general and RG in particular, and are not afraid of a wonderful but eyecatching version
- G if you like the beauty but discretion and versatility of white gold
- P if you fell in love with its incredible blue dial, if you want something very exclusive though understated, and... if you can afford the stiff price tag
As for me I chose the G version and it brings me immense pleasure everytime I wear it.

but this patek 5070 is the one i wear on every monday, and friday for the past 8 years.
Minority opinion...
If the picture is you, then it looks oversized for your wrist.
Frankly, in spite of all the lovefest about this watch, I find it chunky, bulky and heavy. There simply is too much gold metal exposed, as if you are wearing jewelry. It is in my opinion borderline "body furniture".
Unless you wear your leather strap tight, heavy watches move by their own inertia and dangle and can easily gets dented and scratched. Since straps loosen quite easily, you will always have the potential for dent and scratch with heavy watches.
The thickness of the bezel clearly indicates that a smaller mechanism is fitted in, a business model which i don't like. Thus, I cannot really understand thus appreciate the hype about this watch.
I know i am in the minority as i like the refined 36-38 mm Pateks of the yesteryears.
However, from investment point of view, this piece seems to be OK.
