Patek Philippe

Some of you may have seen my pictures/post earlier this weekend on another popular forum, but I wanted to share my excitement here as well as I enjoy this forum (where I mainly read so many of your interesting and thoughtful posts). Big thank you to all the contributors and the moderators.

My story: After nearly 3 years of wanting and considering manual wind chronographs for my collection, I finally decided that the one for me was the 5070G. This hobby is so personal and everyone has different tastes. So while there were many wonderful candidates in the list of possible manual wind chronos that could have satisfied my itch (including the 5170, the datograph and the centigraphe), when push came to shove, I knew that there was only one choice for me.

Once I finally located the right watch, it was only a matter of time! I received this beautiful watch over the weekend. I look forward to many years of ownership.

It is hard to explain...why does 993 in white don't work and 991 looks gorgeous. Here it is the same. 5970G is not my favorite, every iteration 5970 to me is nicer.

As our Aussie $ drops like a stone, I see my chances of acquiring one disappearing faste- unless I can do a trade

5070 G is one of the coolest watch (if not THE coolest) watch you will ever own !

For sure it's the beginning of a long love story. At least, this is what I wish you : a long happy and peaceful life of love together ;-)))

... its interesting to see how this model in this metal has such a huge success from such a wide audience. From the  people i know, totally unfamiliar to Patek, to huge patek fans, this piece is loved by all, and favorite by many.

5070G is the favourite piece in my collection and as this model is believed to being only produced in 1000 pieces in this metal also very rare.

Congratz for your 5070G, this is indeed a great Patek model.

The G was born in 2003 and discontinued in 2008, so a five years life. At 250 pieces per year, for all 5070, I am not even sure 1000 were made.
The G and the R had a common life.

I hope you are right. 1000 per colour is what Christie's suggests in their lot descriptions for 5070.

afaik G was not made untill 2008 but 2006

Maybe a few left the manufacture in the months after 2006 but  between 2006 and 2008 it was only the R
