The only real downside is that BMW only learned how to make seats relatively recently - anything in the past would break your back within hours. Oh well, on pictures it’s perfect 😁
Had an '08 B7. Simply amazing engine. Tires were waaaay too thin so I think I flatted 2 or 3 times but other than that it was close to a perfect car. Everyone is all about the M class but for pure luxury and performance it's Alpina all the way.
I owned a E34 535i in dolphin grey and what a car it was. That interior was great - the seats were actually quite comfortable, and the cockpit was perfect. And the clean simple lines - only matched by the Mercedes W124 E-class (I’ll have mine as a cabrio CE300-24 in dark metallic blue with cream leather interior please). The engine was a beaut too. Smooth, happy to pootle round town all day, but no problem getting up to 130+ mph on the highway or quiet mountain roads.
If only they made them like that these days…living in London and HK, where a car is superfluous, means I haven’t owned a car in 20 years; but might soon move to a desert city where a car is very much a necessity, and I can’t think of anything today that is as elegantly designed. (Any ideas welcomed!)
