Their natural habitat seems to be Beverley Hills parking lots. It's all 4runners, Wranglers, Broncos and Subarus on the trails... I think Mercedes hit the nail on the head for their market.

I was in Africa to see "The Great Migration" of animals.  And I ended up joking, "I see the great migration of Toyota Land Cruisers."   There were NO G CLASS vehicles.

I'm in line for the new land cruiser myself. Good mpg so every can of gas I bring will take me further, a small enough battery not to be obstrusive when discharged but large enough to run basic camping stuff...

It might be 2 years until I get one, but still I guess us watch guys are used to this kinda thing.

They know the market they are playing into exceedingly well. It's a forgone conclusion. Obviously, the car isn't a replacement for the petrol version, it's simply a companion trim to lure in buyers for whom the only 'obstacle' to getting one was that this trim didn't previously exist....

I would say, the petrol/diesel versions really do consume way too much fuel. As an AMG owner, I've realized, stopping at gas stations take time, I have to wear gloves, and it's not exactly a pleasant thing to do. So if I were to ever get an SUV, I would highly consider an electric one!

Yeah, if you're just going to drive around Newport Beach by day and then charge at home, why bother with the ICE? People buying these have several other cars if they really want to road trip, and they fly on any trip that takes more than three hours by road. The EV is clearly the performance king of the lineup, so go with the champ if you're buying a flex-type truck.

That Tesla Model 3 Performance looks like a great car.  The Tesla Model 3 is actually a darn good car - if you don't pay attention to how bad the brakes are.

Neither one is necessary or anything more than a flexing exercise. So on that basis, why not get the one that's bigger, more powerful, and quicker by far? The Hummer's probably even more maneuverable given its 10-degree RWS system. The Hummer charges at 800v/350kw, and even with off-road tires, it goes over 300 miles. 

But if I were, the Toyota Land Cruiser and Mercedes G Wagon are the ones that catch my eyes, simply because of the amazing capabilities of the machine. The Hummer's interior has too many hard plastics for me. Although I do see the appeal in making it easier to clean when you take the top off and the interior gets a little dusty.

They still have the 6 cyl engines for the G580 and G63 still their V8.

The Electric cars on new platforms will likely be unreliable the first few years, which will hurt the resale market. Which will impact the residuals. Banks will also be conservative and thus offer very standard 50-60% residuals so they cover their risk first. If the cars prove to be more reliable, then they'll reconsider.
