Unfortunately Rolex have discontinued the Milgauss, a watch that is incredibly versatile and always admired.

One of the new watches announced at Watches & Wonders that caught my eye was this beautiful Cartier …

Back later with more thoughts
Best regards
Captain

Hello again dear Captain! I join you with the Milgauss wearing this weekend and regretting its announced discontinuation. I hope that it will be replaced with a new Milgauss shortly.

This is a very special model in the catalog of Rolex and I think it should be mantained among the offerings of this brand.
I love the stunning green dial of the Santos Dumont so much. A great choice you make here. Are you thinking in going after it? wink
Have a nice weekend my dear friend. Abel

Hello dear Abel …

The new Santos with its bottle green dial is very appealing and I’m going to see the watch as soon as possible to make my decision. I also try to make my collection as diverse and interesting as possible. I personally was fairly disappointed by many of the watches shown at W&W this year.

Thank you for your answer dear Captain! Looks like we share similar feelings about watches shown at W&W this year.

Of course I understand that it´s very important to view a new watch in the metal before deciding to go after it or not. Looking its details and how it looks on our own wrist can make a big different experience to what we felt when discovering it through pictures.

I look forward to know your personal thoughts after you have the opportunity of viewing this stunning version of a classic from Cartier!
Cheers, Abel

I know what you mean - many of this year's W&W launches were of insipid watches at over-inflated prices.

True!

I agrée with you the Cartier is a great release here!

Very tempting 😉

Hello dear Captain! Nice to have you hosting this weekend!

 By: Subexplorer : March 31st, 2023-14:32
Also nice to have a relaxed event after a very busy week sharing our watches we expect to wear next two days and our thoughts around the novelties announced in W&W.

I’m wearing today Friday my Explorer 1016 from 1965 gilt dial.
I’ve been wearing it during the last few days. A delight to have it on my wrist such a charming watch.

Tomorrow Saturday afternoon I will be changing for my Steel Pasha for a family event which will require wearing a suit.

For Sunday I’m planning wearing my Milgauss (regret it’s discontinued status just announced)

I’ve been wearing this watch with leather straps since I bought it some ten years ago so it’s original Oyster bracelet is resting absolutely mint since then. I feel it’s time to try the watch with its bracelet so I will be fitting it on Sunday before wearing the watch.

Regarding the announcements at W&W:

I confess that I’m not excited with the new watches.
As you know one of my favorite brands is Rolex but the possibility of getting a new (or old) model at retail from an AD or boutique is nil under the present market circumstances so I read the news from my beloved brand with little interest.

The only watch I liked is the new Yatchmaster Titanium which I would like to add to my collection… some day!

By the other hand Tudor announced two watches I liked so much:

The Bb 54 with its 37 mm case looks very interesting and close to the vintage Submariner of this brand. I wish they would use a Mercedes hour hand in this model to make it truly a dream.

Another Tudor I liked is the white dial GMT. I would love yhis model in the 58 or new 54 case size though. And with Mercedes hand as well.

I wish you a great and relaxed weekend my dear Captain and to all our friends here!

Abel

Hello Captain! I would like to add another watch announced last days…

 By: Subexplorer : March 31st, 2023-15:00
… which I missed to comment in my previous post. It’s the new Reverso Chronograph in steel. I really love this watch and this is a piece I would really love to add to my collection. Cheers! Abel

I love this new Reverso chronograph!

The front blue-grey dial looks superb, and the back is just so visually and mechanically sexy.
Sadly the size will be too big for my skinny wrist, but it looks like a future classic.

Thanks a lot for your comments NT931. Glad to know you like it too. Agree with your thoughts. Hagwe! Abel

I would certainly like to see this one and try it on my wrist.

I will be waiting to know your thoughts when …

… you see and try it.
Guess it will take a lot of time to arrive to my land regret to say.
I like the looks so much!
Cheers

Your epic Explorer …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : March 31st, 2023-15:03
I absolutely love the 1016 Explorer and yours looks magnificent in the photos.
The the new Yatchmaster Titanium is very cool and one of the highlights from Rolex this year. As for the Tudor, I agree as it would look perfect with Mercedes hands.
Best regards
Captain

Thank you for your kind comments and compliments on my Explorer. Nice to know you share my thoughts on the new YM Ti and new Tudors as well. Best cordial regards, Abel

… It is true that the vintage versions have a very special charm.
I also own a modern version which is a practical daily wearer and I like it so much.
But of course the vintage has a very special look.
Glad you also like the steel Pasha. Backround is a nicely textured piece of white rock found in the beach.
The light and the b&w shot make it look as a cloth indeed.
Thank you again for viewing and commenting!
Best, Abel

Dear Captain, thank you for hosting this weekend's Wristscan!

 By: terbaboom : March 31st, 2023-14:57
indeed, the green dial Santos is also the watch that caught my eye when my Cartier SA sent me over 50 photos of Cartier's novelties! for this weekend, I'll be wearing my Parmigiani Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante. i love the simplicity of this watch which hides a very useful complication that appears only when needed.

among the novelties from this year's Watches & Wonders, the watch that i like and will try to put in a pre-order will be the Parmigiani Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante. i can already think of a scenario where the complication will come in useful and that is when a colleague asks me for 5 min of my time for a discussion 😂 photo is from Parmigiani's website

It’s a pleasure to host WristScan for you 😉

Your Parmigiani Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante looks very good in your photos. I find the dial and hands especially alluring.
I completely understand why you would order the Parmigiani Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante.
Best regards

New launches..

 By: KURT_DAVID : March 31st, 2023-15:05
Hello Captain!
We’re set for a relaxing but blowy start to the weekend.

As usual my Tudor is keeping me company throughout.

I was hoping for some new Bronze watches from Tudor this year, alas not to be.

Something rubber clad got my attention though!!
I’m smitten with the Black Bay 54 especially on the superb rubber strap. Cannot wait to try this one.

All the best for the weekend.
Regards Kurt. 🍻

Tudor static..

 By: KURT_DAVID : March 31st, 2023-15:57

At Abel’s request 😉my static shot also taken earlier today.

I’d also like to add this new launch from Zenith.
This new Pilot is so crisp and clean!

🍻

Thank you so much Kurt for following my suggestion!

 By: Subexplorer : March 31st, 2023-16:05
I felt yours is a superb static shot which deserved to be shared here.
Interesting this new launch from Zenith you are sharing here too. I haven’t seen it most probably received among the cataract of information around W&W received during this week.
Looks very nice indeed.
Hagwe! Abel

Wow…

Great static shot of your Tudor Kurt 👍

Rough sea …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : March 31st, 2023-18:54
I love the power of the sea in your photos.
Something bronze would have been good from Tudor but it wasn’t to be.
Do you think you will go for one of the new Tudor BB54’s ?

If I like on the wrist…

 By: KURT_DAVID : March 31st, 2023-21:10
The other half approves of the BB54 which is handy. 😉
Trouble is, I’ve got my eye on a GS too!

😀

The GS is calling you 😉

Good afternoon Captain.

Wearing my Zeitwerk Striking Time right now.

Watches and Wonders has been a bit if a mixed bag for me. I loved the updated IWC Ingenieur - my local AD is in Geneva and has the black dial on its way for me. This completes the trifecta of homages to the GG SS sports watches from the 70’s as I have a blue dial 15202 and a white dial 5711. This is the first Ingenieur that I’ve liked since the original.

I think that Cartier stole the show - they are really on fire right now. Their Prive models were really beautiful. I have a RG Santos Dumont XL already inbound. I did like the green dial VC Patrimony Tourbillon - platinum. Rolex underwhelmed - with minor tweaks - although I do like their use of titanium for some of their watches which is a smart move. A lot of the other manufactures were releasing “me too” models which didn’t really bring anything to the table with some really “messy” dials.

Zeitwerk …

Powerful, striking in its design and beautifully photographed on your wrist.
I completely agree with you, the Cartier Prive models were really beautiful this year and Rolex used titanium very successfully.
Best regards
Captain
