they are indeed very hot....

got a chance to see both at a recent Omega event in HK.

Liked both, but perhaps with a bit more preference for the petite second hand - it looks more elegant and "old school".
They are good re-edition from Omega.
Somehow the small second hand piece reminds me of the 2012 London Olympic edition.

Nicholas, I hope you get to secure one for yourself.  They are really doing well.

Omega Seamaster 1948 Small or Central Seconds? My heart is still waving.

 By: amanico : December 19th, 2018-00:46
Among all the Omega novelties from this year, there is one or two which is / are pleasing me a lot: The re edition of the Seamaster 1948. I discussed it here: www.watchprosite.com I am impatient to see them landing here and there, and to see them ...

Difficult to decide...

Both have their charms for me. If there’s one criticism, I think Omega could have omitted all text below the 12 o‘cli position and left only Omega and Seamaster. But very good re-editions!

second that

Too much text has been a plague for too long! Imagine a Rolex with just the brand on the dial! That would be some change

Small seconds would be my choice

 By: VinnieD : December 19th, 2018-00:56
They are both very successul designs: case volume, lugs etc. But the central seconds has a major flaw: hour and minute hands are the wrong size. The historic model also suffered this but it is a deal breaker for me. The dial texture seems very interesting...

Well for me it has to be the central seconds.

I like the case shape and crowns on both watches which are very vintage Omega and the elongated indices but I generally prefer centre seconds. The only thing I don’t like is the length of the hour hand. It looks very short to me but maybe that’s the angle...

Small seconds..

 By: Echi : December 19th, 2018-01:05
Because of the hands. The ones on the central secs seem to be a tad short. Leaf hands also probably a bit more romantic than the all business dauphine hands although one might argue that it matches the indices better. It also gives you a sense of the move...

These are exactly my sentiments.

I normally prefer sweep seconds hand but in this case the hands on the small seconds model are much better. For this reason I prefer the small seconds version of this watch. M4

I like both,

 By: chocomallo : December 19th, 2018-01:42
But I would go small seconds. I don’t like how the hour markers extend past the minute track on the sweeping seconds. And I think they should both be 35mm. That would take away some of the chunkiness of the cases.

For me - with center seconds. [nt]

The boat and plane have nothing to do with the watch! Gloucester Meteor and Chris Craft...Strange bedfellows to an Omega that pays homage to the first Seamaster.

 By: Watcholic_id : December 19th, 2018-05:14
but if i had to choose only one, it would be the small second. because the proportion of the overall dial & the length of the hour & minute hands are better than the central second version. the railway minute track is another thing that i like a lot i hop...

They are nice but rather pricey. You can pickup a nice deville chronometer coaxial for almost half the price

Small seconds, for two . . .

. . . reasons. First and foremost, the hands of the sweep version aren't aesthetically proportioned - most seem to agree on this point. Second, the script and layout of the small seconds version more closely reflects the original references (like the 2576...

I think the case is thiner and the hands look a bit more sporty in my opinion. Lots of people are criticizing the length of the hour marker but I'm not shocked. I am on the waiting list but can't wait to try them on, I think it will be either love them or...
