I'm so glad you enjoyed it- as you can probably tell, I like the Speedmaster.  I'm a 'fan' basically so I'm afraid I basically decided to throw any pretense of critical distance out the window and just write a love letter to the darned watch smile .

I'm glad you liked the IWC article as well!  I do feel I should give credit where it's due though and point out that when it comes to the technical side of things I have benefited enormously from the expertise of the professional watchmakers who are kind enough to share their knowledge with the rest of the team; one of ThePuristS.com's strengths has always been the fact that when push comes to shove, we have people with collectively decades of bench experience who are willing to keep us from saying the kind of grotesquely wrong things that even the best read enthusiast is apt to say without the benefit of formal training in watchmaking.

Jack, Let me be the first to thank and congratulate you on a massive piece of work on the Speedy and it's lunatic history. As a reviewer, I can claim to be the first Yeah...... I liked it.......very Forsteresque but I liked it . I had to read 10,000 words...

The Speedmaster is a legend and has earned its stripes making history. Part One is a great read and so I'm looking forward to Part Two. Also your article on the IWC Caliber 5001 in Feb 2005 is excellent, well researched and written. Cheers, LG
