Speedy

When I posted this elsewhere I titled the post “Welcome to 2003” and made reference to a time before cartoon characters were perfectly acceptable and as desirable as them seem to be today.

Of course Mickey Mouse graced dials long before Snoopy showed up on an Omega but this watch, which is almost 20 years old, was definitely a more subtle entry to the cartoon character watch.

I love this one today just as much as I did almost 20 years ago.  It remains my only Omega, I’ve owned only one other (also a Speedy, but never worn) for a short while but that’s it. I did come close to some Flightmasters in the late 2000’s and have flirted with the Ploprof (vintage and new) on several occasions.  Alas, this remains the only one.

Fine watch as your only Omega!

I think for my first 15 or so years of collecting the only watches I ever sold were Panerai.

Some of that was just trading around, and then later (like you) to reduce the collection and move on to other things. I am still very much more of a buyer than seller.

Certainly would. I have a Festina from 1993, Quartz of course. Does that count?

We would also need some handicap or adjustment factor which is would allow for an “age-grading”. Owning a piece for 5 years for a 25 year old may equate to 10 or 15 years for a 50 year old or something like that. Where’s the mathematician Fab? Maybe he ca...
