Omega Tresor 125th Anniversary. Some official pictures and thoughts.
Jan 28, 2019,09:56 AM
To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first watch with the Omega name on its dial, the eponymous brand decided to launch, some days ago, the Tresor.
I totally understand the choices made by Omega, here. The case in yellow gold, which is deliciously retro. The Red Enamel Dial, red being Omega official color, and last but not least, by far, the launch of a new Co Axial manual chronometric and amagnetic movement with central seconds, the Cal Cal 8929.
The watch is sumptuous... I say it even if I am not a colored gold fan. And surprise, the medaillon on the engraved case back is made of... Enamel, too!
The case is 40 mm big, which is a good size even if I would have liked it to be 2 mm smaller to enhance its vintage look. But I can't deny a lot of charm to this watch. And this hue of red is sublime, too.
This is a watch I'd like to see in the flesh, to confirm the positive feelings I have about it.
In steel or in white gold, I would have killed to get one.
Another thing which has been appropriately underlined by our friend Remarque is the promising movement. With a power reserve of 72 hours, a resistance of 15, 000 gauss and being a chronometer certified, I can't wait to see in which other watches Omega will house it. An homage to the glorious manual winding chronometers from the 40's?
Best,
Nicolas
