Sandgroper's post from 2012 playfully critiques the practice of keeping watches "double sealed" and unworn, a common debate among collectors. His humorous photo essay, featuring a humble Mondaine, sparks a lively discussion about watch ownership philosophies and the joy of wearing timepieces. This thread remains relevant as it touches on the enduring tension between collecting for preservation and collecting for enjoyment.
Hi all, today after some long and hard thinking I finally decided to go to the bank and get one of my most beautiful time piece, beautiful it is and I am sure you will all agree. It is also by far the most accurate time piece in my collection.
So, here I am on this warm Friday afternoon on my way to The Bank:
The Bank

The Vault is really impressive, nothing can be left to chance!

The very minimalist safe deposit room

The beautifully crafted box for an exeptional and rare time piece

THE TIME PIECE ........please note that it is double sealed, never worn and in absolutely mint condition!

Another pic less fuzzy...

For the delight of the eyes....

Just a last one to finish this Saturday with an everlasting memory.

Hope you enjoyed the journey. Have a great weekend.
Cheers, from Down Under
Francois
Being photographed under their double seals? Thanks for this brilliant demonstration on how stupid these pictures can be. And before anyone shoots you, it was an idea WE, Francois and me, had in common, just for the need of the demonstration. Thanks for having played the game, my friend. " PuristS provocation at its best ". AND, by the way, this watch, as any other one, deserves much better than this plastic environment and decorum. Best from up above. Each of us should have at least one 'double seal' in our collection - or not.
I forgot to add the pics of the "papers" and "archives"! Didn't I? A+ Nicolas Francois from Down Under
you are absolutly right, I'll get my "double seal" soon! Obrigado! Gracias! Abracos de Down Under Francois PS: I love your PP 5124G, very, very nice time piece indeed!
Me thought it was for real. Best. Ztirual
I couldnt believe it when I saw the picture of the 'bank'. But yes, the lack of papers gave it away. Good one guys. Should have waited 2 weeks to post this.
