Omega

Omega Speedmaster 321 "Ed White" finally here!

Love this one so much - a very classic look plus the legendary 321 caliber!  This is the first watch I experienced in person that came from the dedicated Omega assembly line where the principle of 1 watch - 1 watchmaker is observed (or so they say!).  I must say I can see the difference in the assembly quality vs many standard assembly Omegas I experienced in the past - the hands are perfectly alighned, no dust under the crystal. etc.

The bracelet looks the same as on my FOIS but interestingly, the FOIS has a more advanced micro-adjustment system in the clasp (via a push-batton) - I wonder if they went with a simpler solution on Ed White for historic authenticity or any other reason?

The most unusual part of the story is that I had this watch on order from my beloved local AD and they have been telling me this one was really difficult to get, substantially more difficult than the Snoopy.  So, a couple of years have passed and then - to my astonishment - I, by pure chance, spot this watch on their display window while picking up my PAM 1628!  It paid off (finally!!) that I am quite educated in watches and could identify it by looking at the combination of the "normal" Speedy hands and the flat-linked bracelet!  It transipred that my manager was out for a couple of days and then her other colleagues just casually received the watch in a shipment from Omega and put in on display window, unaware of my long-standing order!  But all is well that ends well - this will make the watch even more memorable to me (knowing that it almost slipped away from me).
