I don't mean to get too judgmental, but even if they didn't know *who* might be on a list for which watch, they should have known when it came in that it's one of those watches that they might have a list for, and not just put it out without checking. You are lucky to have come in at the right time; I know if it were me I'd have been pretty annoyed with them when I saw it sitting there!

I agree regarding the flat-link bracelet. The looks vs the standard Speedy one is always a debatable matter, but the flat one is much lighter and more comfortable (to me at least).

The Ed White was my first modern Omega. I was looking to get a Speedy just before the launch of the Ed so it was an easy decision. I was among the early bunch who put in a deposit for it, think it took about 9 mths to deliver.
