Omega PM pricing

Mar 27, 2024,02:58 AM

Can someone please help me understand how Omega comes up with the pricing for their precious metal watches? Specifically, why there is such a difference between yellow, moonshine, Sedna, and Canopus in what is basically the same watch otherwise.
This all came up when I was at a local dealer looking for a WG Daytona, and stopped by to see what they had in their omega case. Hoping to see the Canopus, but no luck. They had the green dialed moonshine gold staring at me though. That has to be one of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever held. Way more so than the Daytonas I’ve been able to see IMHO. I had always thought I couldn’t pull off a (full) yellow gold, but I am starting to think about it now. And now that there’s a stainless steel version of the speedy pro with a white dial the Canopus seems even crazier to buy.

At least how they come up with the numbers, not the actual prices. But does seem a bit far. Turned out to be about a 25% premium for white gold over moonshine (and now the SS white dial is available for less than 25% of the price of moonshine). Crazy!

Understand pricing? Seriously? :-)

Every company with its own "system"... Some are just factoring X based on the metal, Rolex is an example. Some are "promoting" the metal (Panerai Tantalum is an example). Some are pricing nearly all metals the same... And some just try to go for the max t...

I think Omega went a bit too far with the gold Speedies, I see plenty sitting on the AD's windows

I actually love the Moonshine gold, but the price is too steep for me... ...

Didn’t see that one

A bit too far on the moonshine gold speedies as they are 20% to 30%

more expensive as the initial 50 years anniversary model that came out in 2019.

Sorry I was too optimistic. I just checked the Omega site and the 2019 moonshine full gold Speedmaster with red bezel price has suffered a 47,81 percent

increase to reach the full moonshine green dial Speedmaster’s price. Insane! There must have been some other recent price increases . And you get now less for more as there is no moon meteorite fragment in the new model and no small enamel map.

I find the gold looks dull compared to Rolex. Even though the DD etc. have brushed parts as well. Likely the combination of the yellow gold mixture etc. I saw an ad for the gold speedmaster on leather bracelet, they go BNIB for 16-18k usd. 30k and a bit r...

All I can offer is that I too think the PM Speedy PM Daytona

They are hands down better looking watches. However, I wouldn’t dare buy one at retail or anywhere near. Could not justify it. And remember, it’s only in recent years where even the halo of Rolex could have its PM Daytona’s fetch retail prices (no discoun...
