Similar esperence with Watchfinder ...

utterly ridiculous. Take your business elsewhere if they try this kind of nonsense.

My experience with Watchfinder

was that they have to confirm my shipping address by me sending them an email from my work email. To me that is pretty ridiculous, what if I don’t have a work email? What if I don’t want my company’s compliance team or my boss to know I’m spending a lot o...

All good points David [nt]

It is a crazy policy [nt]

Maybe because you’re not from within the country???

I can understand Drivers License and Credit Card, while I’m at the store but not passport and utility bills. Are they doing background checks for felony or misdemeanor charges too 😂? Even Drivers License is just for the first time I made my purchase, subs...

Believe it or not...

I don't know if this is still the case, but in 2010 it was actually illegal for a store to ask for a drivers license in the state of California. Today, when I buy an expensive item at a department store in California, I still don't show my drivers license...

For cash, no problem

Or you can have your driver buy it for you (unless she or he is only Uber and not your personal chauffeur)

Good one! [nt]

Fortunately, in California, you can go into any department store, and unless there is a reason for suspicion, they are not supposed to ask you for your drivers license.

I'm not entirely clear on the law, currently, but as long as there is no "probable cause" there was no need for a drivers license. Before 2010, when it was legal to ask for identification, I don't know what they would've wanted to see if you didn't have a...

Yes, I have. Do enough high end shopping and you see all of it...

It's not unusual for high demand luxury products. Look at Hermes and Louis Vuitton. They limit how many items can be purchased per certain timeframe based on the passport number. Heck, you have to inform Hermes of your passport number just to get an appoi...

Sadly those were the required items, thanks for your post. I’ve never had this with Louis Vuitton or anyone inside my own country. Why would anyone give this in this identity theft era? [nt]

Sadly no humor on that list, was really dissapointed, especially for their boutique. live and learn and moved on, someone else will get my hard earned money.

The only way is to vote with your wallet..

Place your business elsewhere !

It is not legal in The Netherlands

Besides that; it’s a friggin bag! A bag! Painted leather sowed together with threads and needles. And a logo printed on it... 🤦🏻‍♂️

I agree...

I'm not a fan of the Hermes game. And I'm not a fan of how Hermes treats alligators and crocodiles. Besides, the stores are all filled with loud and obnoxious tourists.

How did you make the purchase?

 By: Joe90 : November 15th, 2018-18:31
I don't know what it's like across the world but here in the UK, if you were to get finance for a watch purchase (and it makes sense when it's over X years at 0% interest), then you typically have to provide extra evidence of financial stability / credit-...

I agreed with you Joe about finance...

That’s standard practice. In my case Watchfinder refused to get a second hand watch out of a cabinet without me showing them my driving license.

Heck, some car dealers will let me take a test drive without showing a driving license!

Just in the last couple months ... of course, they should check, and often make a copy ... but then I don't look like a carjacker, I guess Watchjacker, maybe Mike

That’s pretty weird! [nt]

Get use to it, that's what's coming worldwide.

It's just a matter of time. Control, control, control. I've been the seller, not anymore, but some people very close to me still are. Rules and laws keep getting stronger and stronger. Vte
