Nice condition flightmaster. The problem with the engraving is provenance in my opinion. It could have been engraved at anytime, more probably since MC passed away, but it also could have been done by him as a gift for crew members.
We have to be cynical without having any provenance to back up the second theory.
For example did he always sign 'MC' ?
I would have expected something a bit more personal as an inscription like ' from Michael, Westworld 1973 '.
This inscription would need a lot more research before i would consider it genuine.
Still a great watch though

Michael Crichton was, somehow, a Purist. A quick image search shows him wearing a Heuer Monaco and another wearing a Speedmaster. A guy with good watch taste and, of course, a very good writer. RIP. Cheers, Nilo

Do you think that an Omega Flightmaster watch that is engraved "Westworld 1973 MC" could be his watch or was it a watch given out to people who worked on the film?

I cant see a load of flightmasters being dished out by him as they were expensive even when new. Its quite possible its his. Only he can answer that question and its worth contacting his PA. G

Take a look at 1' 27" in the video, Graham . . .
. . . could that be a Flightmaster on the assistant's wrist? . . .
. . . also, the very beginning, at 0' 01" . . .
. . . as there is clearly a crown to the left and a pusher to the right of the wrist holding a camera. Intriguing, no? . . .

I'm not saying he didnt give them as gifts, but to verify this particular watch we would need to see the inscription on the back of at least 1 fully verified piece as an inscription can be easily faked. Best G

. . . but it still strikes me as unlikely for anyone to have engraved this Flightmaster surreptitiously. I would be suspicious of, say, a Steve McQueen or Jacky Stewart engraving, but Crichton is too obscure, and the potential upside too scant, to inspire...
