Starting this Tuesday with a present version of Speedmaster on my wrist.
Shown together with an Astro Randall knife.
Bo Randall a pioneer knifemaker from Orlando, Florida, designed this knife working together with Astronaut Gordon Cooper in the early 1960’s.
The knife was to be used in the survival kit of the seven pioneer astronauts of Project Mercury.
The design was approved by NASA and a small quantity was bought for the astronauts use and training.
This is a later version which differs very little from the originals and belongs to my collection.

But to employ in land or sea for several survival procedures in case of an emergency. As a matter of fact these knives were attached to the survival kit of the capsule inside the hatch door. One of these doors with kit and knife included was lost in the s...
