Well, I know: 2000 posts is the quantity that my friend Alkiro would manage to post in - say - 14 days or so. But to me, 2000 is a lot, and hence, somehow special. As "a rusty watch guy" and a bit "old school" perhaps, I though this post should be a bit special, i.e. the watch that I show should be a bit special.
As you might know, vintage Speedmasters are a bit of an anchor theme in my collection and serious collecting started off with Speedmasters (luckily.......). And among my Speedmasters, the "A.C.P." holds a special place.
1) the "A.C.P." print on the dial: as far as I read the literature, this is the only time that a client-customization was printed on the dial in the Omega factory. My understanding is that the other "double-signed" dials (i.e. "Meister" and "Tiffany & Co") were printed outside of the Omega factory.
2) the dial is - in the Moonwatch-Only typology a "B1-No T". It went into production shortly before the mandatory "T" came into force and is hence very rare as it had a very short production run
3) the 105.012 model was the first reference where the "Professional" started to appear on the dial in spring 1964.
4) the 105.012 model was the first reference where the movement was housed in the asymetrical case, starting in Q1 1964
Back to the A.C.P. model: it was the Automobile Club of Peru who ordered 50 examples of this 105.012-63. And - again according to our friends of "Moodwatch Only" - fewer than 10 have been spotted to date. I hence guess that this level of rariy qualifies the tag: "Reserve du Patron".
Cheers, HSTE
