Omega

Team, Got this watch and one of the reasons, besides the extreme low cost, was that it looks very "funky" and is very comfortable on the wrist. I would love to receive some advise from the experts. It's, for sure, a good example of the crazy 70's creativi...

. . . to share, Nilo. First, you were fortunate to get one on a bracelet because the watch "requires a special screw-down adapter for the link ends." Second, you don't need the dedicated Omega dial extractor . . . just be judicious when applying pressure.... 

I'm lucky enough that my watchmaker has the proper Omega tool. No issues there. Just a little weird. Cheers, Nilo

...I went through a similar discovery process. My watchmaker informed me that the Omega crystal removal tool for this model for this has only 4 prongs, as opposed to the usual 16, but that the regular one works fine with proper tension. He used it to get ...  

That is very simple, in many cases, to source parts. In this case my watchmaker replaced the crystal with a NOS one. Cheers, Nilo

...our watches do not have a 'quickset' date function. The fastest way to advance the date is to turn the minute hand to about the 3AM position, then back to about the 9PM, then back to the 3AM, repeating until you arrive at the date you want.

Hi Did your watchmaker confirm you have a 565 caliber movement inside ? The 565 has a quick set by pulling the crown out to the second position and then push it back in to advance the date... its a "pull n' push " action to advance the date. Good Hunting ...

...I also own more than a few Omegas with the push-pull date advancement, so was surprised to hear this. We had the movement exposed and all appeared well inside. Will have to revisit this...

And you can quick set using the "pump" of the crown. Image from the Internet Old-Omegas. It's clumsy but works. Cheers, Nilo...  

Not thrilled to learn that my Geneve probably has a damaged quickset part, but good to know it's how that particular movement should function correctly. Nice to post that chart for everyone to see. BTW- Those date quicksets are awkward enough, but when yo...

But even with all this "funkiness" it dresses very well and is a pleasure to wear, even with the square (39mm) case. Cheers, Nilo
