I have many watches from both brands and appreciate them for what they are. Hard to argue one is better than the other...

The one thing I can say that favors Omega at the moment is availability compared to Rolex who seem to be vacuumed up, regardless of the model (except for 2 tone and certain ladies models).

I do agree that Omega has been more daring and taking risks with technology, materials, etc...
Rolex has kept to what they know even thought the YM2 and SkyD have been nice additions.

I think there is room for both in a collection and cannot say which I would prefer as both are great in my eyes with a slight nod to Omega for taking more risks.

Most here know I am a huge Speedmaster fan but saying that, I also have many different iterations of the Daytona, including vintage models.

In the end, we all have our own personal preferences but that is what makes this passion great. If everyone liked the same types of watches, it would get a bit boring after a while. Sharing our passion with others, either due to different types of watches, brands, etc...adds to the enjoyment for me.

I read your post regarding the horrific service you received from the Rolex AD. It was sad to hear that you were treated that way but I want to also remain open minded and hope that it was more about the people working at that particular AD than the brand itself. I don't want to defend Rolex but I also want to be objective as well.

Omega indeed has a more diversified selection but sometimes that could hurt them as well.

Regardless, Omega makes an amazing product and stands shoulder to shoulder with any Rolex 😉👍

My recent poor experience with Rolex watches and Rolex servicing (see post on Rolex forum if you aren’t put off by bad customer service) and the off-hand comparison of omega watches to “5 dollar plastic watches” by the Rolex service center watchmaker, alo...

So now you're into "5-dollar watches"... 😂

Add the ultra ridiculous price into the equation and you have a cheap looking expensive watch.

Pretty much, yes...👍

All my watches are Omegas (I'm obviously biased😂)

But the point is bigger than Rolex alone...while I think Omega is undervalued (but catching up VERY quickly) it is galling when certain (not Rolex actually) brands get away with sub standard products with excuses like”they are hand made”, “don’t look to c...

Not forgetting creativity ...

What gets me about Rolex🤬

Of all the top tier brands brands; they are the only one to not offer exhibition backs. They don’t do the exotic finishing that we have come to expect from fine watchmakers!

Totally agree with you there...

I think they are both great brand but must admit I like how omega offer more choices of dials and complications. I just got my first Omega last week and I LOVE it.

Movement technology and chronometry are up there with the best of the industry. I would not be surprised if I was to add another omega to the collection in 2021! Who knows...lol

Omega is a brand that goes for detailed watches i experienced with my own Seamaster. I was not known with the brand before i bought my Seamaster. I red some comments on communities about a Seamaster with a failure in the dial and bazel. The outlining was ...

I am actually selling mine to make way for a new acquisition.

Because of any design flaws, or just because your taste has changed.

IMHO that particular piece is the perfect amalgamation of vintage looks and modern engineering (with the chronometry and ruggedness that comes along)

It's the hands and lumination

 By: Treiz1337 : December 30th, 2020-19:14
The way the lume is designed and placed on the dial is not pleasant to me. Also the the hour hands and minute hands are way too short. I hate how the minute track is inside the hour markers; Making the watch dial not in proportion. While I understand it i...

I get your point and your warranted dissatisfaction, but things are not that simple. I once had two different issues with a brand new Patek. The Paris Boutique first told me that I did something wrong...

They didn't say it twice... Now to say that Patek watches are worse or better than other watches from other brands, I wouldn't say so. There are people who just should do another job. Period. But you are right, there is a life outside Rolex, Patek, AP and...

I think that we are agreeing.

I believe that they are starting to change their approach. More push for the constellation, Tresor and deville lines. Also, not sure if it was intentional/manufactured scarcity or what, but I didn’t see a single manual wind speedmaster during a quick visi...

Omega vs Rolex

 By: Cookies : December 30th, 2020-05:35
It’s such a complex issue, by era or by price history. In the 90’s to early 2000’s they used many ETA movements, so the comparison is likely more similar to a Tudor today. But in terms of finishing, I think their cases are better finished than the rough e...

So well said!...
