Those who follow this forum will recall threads posted by Subexplorer and yours truly on this remarkable ref 2494. One of the earliest produced, with a very low movement number for a cal 352 movement.
My initial impression regarding the steel crown was that it was original. Subsequently, I reviewed images of every pink gold bezel chronometer I could find, and each one - either references 2367 or 2410 - was fitted with a matching pink gold crown.
The steel clover crown that was on the watch when it was delivered from Argentina had lost its rubber seal, so it wasn't even waterproof. Fortunately, my watchmaker had one steel clover crown left in his stock that fit.
The story would've ended there, but in one of those 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'* moments, I ran across a plated pink gold crown on a vendor's website.
A phone call and ~ $100 later, the final result is posted above.
