A quick visit at the Omega Museum in Biel

Aug 30, 2020,08:26 AM

Dear All,

We had heavy rains in Zurich today, which means great opportunity for a family drive to Biel (1.5h) to visit the Omega museum next to the historic Omega building.

The museum has 2 floors, one for Swatch (they have 70% of all the references ever produced on display, which is quite a lot of plastic) and one for Omega.

The Omega floor is of course the most interesting with a good coverage of the historic pieces from the late 1900’, the Speedmaster / moon saga and of course Bond, James Bond.

The exhibition floor isn’t huge but very well organized with modern and interactive displays.

The historical building

The last omega in space

The Apollo 11 speedy

Alaska project

the Omega Deep Sea, sorry Ultra Deep

Some cool vintage ads

Biel old town, small but quite nice

Overall a great day trip!

Enjoy the WE

Seb

Thanks for sharing it , I got a pocket watch w total elegance dial!

I happen to know a member here who has this watch with complete set with all stickers intact, kept at his office since the day he bought and forgot about it.

He remembered the purchase during our discussions on Speedmaster limited editions. He later checked and confirmed the purchase and it's packed condition! Amazing man indeed. He has a very good collection of Daytona and Patek watches as well

That is no doubt one of Omega very best, but here above

One of your photo is labelled: last omega in space, do you mean on the moon? I guess the latest x33 have been into space since. Thanks again for your pictures. Best, E.

Yes, on the moon [nt]
