Those terrible Speedmaster Limited Editions

 By: Jay (Eire) : September 6th, 2018-04:18
With many people get a little irked with yesterday’s HODINKEE Speedy Wednesday LE and it seems also being generally negative about Omega’s whole strategy (or lack of strategy perhaps) on the constant issue of LEs I thought I’d share one of those terrible ...

But Jay, that one IS relevant to the whole story.

unlike not the meaningless vanity project that surfaced yesterday. If they were going to do such a piece, it could have had more colours and been the 'Pride' LE. Now that would have a meaning and could be applauded. Velociphile

Of course this one IS relevant. That’s correct.

But people seem to be more angry about the number of LEs rather than the relevance. Relevance is a point few are making. And on Relevance, how many mission related LEs are there? Lots and lots and lots I think. I don’t think the majority here that voice a...

I have to chime in!!!!

I am of the opinion that Omega is producing a limited edition almost weekly. That said it’s part of their identity. They are the moon brand and produce variants of all types. Here is why I love this speedmaster. Its the 1861 manual wind caliber BUT you ge...

The only Omega Speedy that really matters

 By: Greenwatch : September 6th, 2018-05:55
And is relevant to me is the 60th anniversary. Tell me of an LE that captures not only the spirit of the first Speedy but also the almost identical look. Relevance to me is the history, not the vanity nor the gimmickry. Relevance also means reverence and ...

There was a prior homage to 2915 about twenty years ago . . .

. . . that currently flies under the radar. [photo credit: Omega Forums] Omega ref 145.0 222 , produced for just a few years towards the end of the '90s, to the best of my recollection. Not nearly as faithfully replicated as last years limited edition, bu...

The only Speedy that has REAL significants is mine...

I can't even tell the differences with the moon watches....but its just me being ignorant, our Mods experts like Nilomis, HSTE will be able to do that I'm sure. Now what do I do with these? ...

👍🏻😂

Well ship them over to me, I free you up from that burden, they are irrelevant anyway... 🚀😇😃

Reminds me of the Yogi Berra saying, "nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded".

The market speaks and right now the market is voting with their wallets, like it or not.

...isn't it always that way? [nt]

Exactly! And here's a quick and dirty mathematical exercise

 By: reintitan : September 7th, 2018-09:44
Hodinkee 10th Speedmaster=500 units x $6500=$3,250,000 Speedy Tuesday Ultraman=2,012 units x $7100=$14,285,200 Total=$17,535,200 for just two LE's in less than 6 months And in terms of effort for them, Omega really only had to create new dials and hands f...

Great job! [nt]
