Omega

Constellations

and other vintage Omega are great to collect. Constellations through the 700 series movements and even some 1000 series are very good. There is a lot of homework to do though. Crowns, dials, hands and cases are all little minefields to navigate, just to get an original example. I’ve probably tried to restore one like this and so relumed the minute hand. Then the hour hand looked bad, relumed it. Lucky enough to have the original crystal buffed it. Then the lume on the markers looked bad. Crud, the rest of the dial is too nice to mess with but... So one small thing led to nowhere to go.
In over 40 years of collecting the one thing that I would say is cosmetics over mechanics. In an original watch mechanical problems can almost always be fixed, cosmetic problems can almost never be fixed. Oh, one more, buy what you like.
Best of luck.
