Where do I go from here?

With all due respect to the wise and learned Paneristi of this site, I have to start my admitting that I never thought much of Panerai. Too big, too showy, etc. etc. etc., you've heard what people say, I don't need to repeat it.

But last spring I took the plunge on a *smaller* *easier to wear* Panerai, a 42mm Submersible (the 973). Turns out I love it! I love it on leather, I love it on rubber, I love it in the morning, I love it at night.

So now I'm thinking: maybe I want a *second* Panerai!

Here's what I think first: that since Panerais tend to be bigger than I like, I should stick small. 42mm Radiomir, slim case: a 337 or 338 with the wire lugs or a 512 or 574 with the regular lugs.

But this Submersible doesn't feel large on me AT ALL. The 1950 case wears really well... maybe I should be looking for a 44mm 1950. A 312 maybe? Or a 233?

Or maybe a 45mm Radiomir like the 380 or the 992?

Give me some ideas, suggestions, thoughts! I'm all ears.

-Ian

My pick would be the *clean* 372

I dont own it (yet), but hopefully one day. Cheers

I agree, grab a 372 while you still can.

372 is beautiful

But I seriously doubt that 47mm + crown guard is going to work for me. 44mm is already pushing it!

The 995 is an Excellent choice!

THAT would be an excellent idea, front and backside. ...

Thanks, that's lovely

Gold hands and green dial go together really nicely

Only few years back....

I would have been more helpful. These days, with all the stuff they produce and the "pretenses" of the buyers, it's impossible. I want this, I want that, god forbid I would never consider...that....etc etc Want a small Radiomir with wire lugs? The present...

Any thoughts about watches with the 1950 case?

No need to limit yourself the current catalogue--I don't usually buy new anyway.

I consider any 1950 cased model....

smaller than 47mm a travesty. Also I wouldn't look twice at a 5.1ft "copy" of Naomi Campbell but hey, I'm funny that way. If you, on the other hand, find one you like a lot and buy it and enjoy it too much

Strong views!

I should have known I'd never belong around here.

That's not true....

as a matter of fact, there are more like you than like me, in here BUT you asked me for my opinion

One of my favorites, 44 mm, 300 m water resistant, screw back case, screw in lugs ...

True. Advice is easy to give, but hard to follow. Always remember that there are plenty of Panerai to choose. They will be there a year from now. Enjoy what you have. Distill why you like it.

Discover how it fits your varied lifestyle and where it doesn't fit. Then see what other Panerai models would mesh with your style and compliment the submersible. I'm sure you will have at least 2 or 3 options that will conflict you. Go slow and enjoy tha...

Excellent advice

Thank you, sir.

My suggestion would be within the different families

 By: Ahoi : May 8th, 2021-05:43
depending on what you want; 1950 Luminor 47: 687, the 233 is a nice option to go 44mm Radiomir 1940 47mm: 662, 587, Radiomir 1940 45mm: 995 Radiomir 45mm: as Sergio said the 210 is awesome. You might like the 992. Is not the one i would get though. Radiom...

Thanks! Lots to consider

The plexi on some of these 47mm watches like the 372 or 587 or 720 looks SO good. Are there 44mm Panerais with plexi crystals?

Congrats on your submersible! I have several 47mm reference but am actually thinking about your 42mm type submersible on a metal bracelet!

Many good suggestion from others already...my only advice would be no[t dismiss some of the choices because they are not 42mm. Try then if your can. For example the red omit 45mm case like the 995 do not wear that much bigger IMO...

Your photos of 47mm watches are part of what's driving my interest.

It's a big leap from 42 to 47mm though! Which is why I've been thinking 44mm 1950s or 45mm Radiomirs. But you're right, I should try them.

Beautiful watch!

I’m a proud owner and wearer of a 44mm Luminor. But with 7” wrists, this 42mm Submersible wears incredibly well on me and I’m considering getting one for myself. Congratulations on the watch and enjoy it!

Thanks!

I've just added another strap to try to stave off the desire for another watch--because this one is such a joy!

How's the lume?
