Really difficult question, but simple answer
And you found it by yourself.
A matter of taste, my friend.
As you said, both are appealing, but the Base ( 176 ) may appear a bit stronger with its very clean look.
And these 4 magic numbers : 12, 3, 6, 9!
The Titanium gives to the Luminor ( Marina ) a very sober and elegant look, but the SS is not ugly, by far!
So, try them all, and you will easily see which one sings louder to your wrist and heart.

It's all about personal preference
Some like the grey color of titanium while others don't. If you like the simplicity of the PAM176 and don't need the seconds hand in the PAM177, then I'd swap for the PAM176. In the end, you can't go wrong with either. For titanium models though, Panerai ...
